There are a few improvements that could be made to make watching replays of an event almost as good as watching it live. It's too easy, without some standards and various behaviours by replay sites, to spoil the outcome so I'd suggest some features that keep viewing games more exciting.
The option to hide replay duration. Knowing the game ends in one minute tells you a lot.
Replays are always saved with player names in alphabetical order. All sites should follow this naming convention. Too often the first name is the winner.
Replays can be joined together into one file for a whole multi-map series that plays continuously and is downloaded once, other wise knowing the number of games to get a win (Bo3, Bo5) and the number of replays you've downloaded will spoil the last game as you know the outcome.
Hopefully you can understand how these changes would improve following a scene by replays which will be a bigger part of SC2 than they are of SC at present.

There's a very big difference between watching replays to learn and watching replays for fun.

to be quite honest all you need to watch a replay is;
fog of war
speed
viewpoint
resource count
nothing more. i know im for sure going to be "minimizing" all the extra unnecessary boxes displaying essentially useless information.

Interestingly enough, there are a number of hidden replay commands that can show leaderboards for different things. Most of them are useless, but you can use it to easily see both player's resource counts at the same time.
The commands:
+ Show Spoiler + /replay show kills -- Shows the number of kills.
/replay show razings -- Shows the number of razings.
/replay show slaughter -- Shows the slaughter leaderboard.
/replay show resources -- Shows the resources.
/replay show minerals -- Shows the minerals.
/replay show gas -- Shows the gas.
/replay show score -- Shows the total score.
/replay show score units -- Shows the units score.
/replay show score buildings -- Shows the buildings score.
/replay show score kills -- Shows the kills score.
/replay show score razings -- Shows the razings score.
/replay show score user -- Shows the custom score.
/replay hide -- Hides the leaderboard.
I don't know how many people know about this, but Heinermann posted them over at SEN and I had no idea.
