Phase shield sounds really interesting as well.

Thor AA sucks ass against anything that isn't clumped up mutas... I'm not a Terran player but I'd be very happy if they took out the Thor and gave Terran a unit very similar to the Goliath, maybe a bit weaker but with a new Spell? Maybe a short repair like ability with a long cooldown? That way it can do AA and repair(Obviously have to be a very weak repair with a long cooldown to be balanced.)

Decent changes I like how the Carrier is back, but now the Tempest is basically a Void Ray with a bit more range.

I hope they're not backing out on making mech viable now. I can't justify buying this game if they can't restore terran to it's Broodwar glory. In BW I switched from random to terran because it was essentially two races in one. Marines being core to every matchup gets old. -_-

No bunker change?

This is one of the best looking beta patches I've seen (including the patches in WOL). I'm so glad they're removing the warhound and adding back in the carrier. I had previously thought that Blizzard really didn't care what the community wanted and that they would just throw shit into the game because they thought it would fit. Glad to see all the community reaction may have influenced their decision.

I still hope by the time HOTS is released that carriers will be stronger than their WOL counterpart. But hey, atleast it's back, right?

the thing with reapers is - they are pretty strong, until your opponent denies you high ground vision (and therefore access to their base, since you might lose your reapers the second you try to sneak up). But with self-healing reapers, plus the ability to shoot uphill i don't see how Zerg can shut down 3 early Reapers without going Speed first (or overcommitting heavily in making more Zerglings than what would be healthy), as they lack the early ranged units when the creep does not yet cover the entire base. For other races this might be problematic as well, but not as much, since they get ranged mobile units at T1 (less cliff abuse possible). I forsee this ability not making it very far.

for the cloud thing - could be nice (not losing chunk of the army late game when retreating vs infestors), could prove too strong (when combined with attacks that basically require chain fungal to get shut down, mass blink stalker or sentry/immortal come to mind), and could be useless in most situations (straight fungal time is around 2 seconds, if you want to use it reactionary you will most probably not get much out of it anyway). Also could stop a lot of QQ on forums Time will tell. And i think the cost reduction for the oracle is good, as it has so few hitpoints (even though being so fast in the right hands that it will nearly never die)

Wasn't this done specifically as a spell instead of an attack to bypass the shields?

Removal of Warhound doesn't faze me so much, I think it'll be back.

Imo, mech IS viable already but it revolves a lot around being constantly active with banshees/hellions and dumping lots of extra minerals into extra orbitals and strategically placed planetaries. In sc2 mech is simple more complex, it's not nearly as straight forward as it was in BW, which is cool because mechanically (no pun intended) the game is easier.

We've seen the top Terrans in the world say that they would NEVER go mech in TvP because it's horrible at the moment.

Pretty cool with the Phase Shield, might make air-based play agaist zerg a bit more viable when infestors hits the field, atleast getting an extra chance when getting your phoenix hit by a fungal.

i'm afraid that blizzard is going to judge the carrier's merit by how much use it sees right now, and that it's not going to see any real use, because mech isn't going to see -nearly- as much use without the warhound...

when you had those big battle hellion, warhound, tank balls, a few carriers would have been a beautiful response. that's when i heard lots of protosses clamouring for the carrier. now, if no-AA deathballs don't occur, protoss players aren't going to use the carrier in PvT any more than they would have in WoL...

This overlaps too much with vikings. If terran masses goliath tank viking, air play is probably out of the question... that's an issue, since mass goliath tank will mop the floor with all ground units compositions...

That would actually be better having void ray be 15 damage with tempest's damage ratios. Not like the tempest's artwork or animations would be missed.

I hope the warhound comes back in a more goliath like form. Terran could use a more durable unit, but the warhound wasn't it. battle hellion better fulfills it but no AA. I dunno what to think

Mech is back where it used to be though. The mine and battle hellions alone aren't enough. The siege tank needs to be stronger!
