One thing that significantly helped when doing this mission was using buildings to make a choke point for whichever way you might get attacked from and then enticing enemies to come attack through it to weaken their defenses before your assault. I just used triple barracks MMM with a few tanks, set up a concave outside my artificial choke, and then pulled with either siegemode, a lone unit, or my banshees.

Also, cloaked banshees can solo clear the first two bottom minable areas before attacking the first real protoss base. For the first minable area just kill everything and then use a few marine+medic to kill the remaining scout at the relic area. As for the second, snipe the pylon from the southeast. I usually clear the first area after the 2nd attack wave and the second while im mining at the first and have a decent sized mmm concave.

After you clear the second area, you can also freely attack the probe line of the first protoss base which makes some of the defending units come try to assist and also die.

Marine/Medic/Marauder, get upgrades. Throw a bit of storm dodging and HT/Colossus sniping into the mix. Didn't really seem that hard to me.
Banshees imo don't work well because of storm and Phoneixes.
If you have a good reason to disagree with the above, please tell me. Thank you.

Mass Banshee + 2 Science Vessel + 4-5 Vikings. Its all you need.

For the last base you can sneak up and kill the temple w/o killing the whole protoss force.
Really disappointed with Starcraft II Zerg! :(

You're making it really hard on yourself if you're not going tanks. Pump marines, medics, a few marauders and tanks. Get the marine, marauder and tank mercs. Move to the top right base, real easy with tank mm pushes. Then get the viking mercs, you'll need them to kill the carrier.

Sorry posted wrong mission :/ but i did this one easy, when you are at the last base, i assume you shouldn't having trouble getting there, you only need 8 or so banshees, you can cut through the protoss base a little bit higher with almost no damage to your banshees, you just take out the cannons on the cliffs and then you can kill off the temple easy, you can bring a few vikings to kill the scouts/phoenixes.

Like people said, a Science Vessel or two and then mass Banshee. Spend excess minerals on Marines and some Medics. Use the ground forces to defend during Banshee pushes and to secure the Research items. Use the Banshees with Cloak to obliterate the enemy base. They do so much DPS that they demolish almost anything. In the last base, bring Wraiths (if you have them) or just a marines to clear some of the air units. Use mules to mine out bases quickly and the SCV-less gas to keep your gas up. This is if you have these options.

Phew,I was able to beat this with 1 viking and 6 banshees that I managed to sneak in to the top right corner. After I sneaked them in,I saved the game and just loaded that over and over until I got godly micro and a good strategy. In the end,I sniped the 2 warp prisms with my viking, killed the first photon cannon and THEN the pylon(which powers a second photon cannon) behind the temple with banshees, then waited for the fire to kill the observer thats there.

I tried killing the pylon first but the 2 photon cannons crushed me
Pls PM me if you want me to read something, I rarely check topics for replys

my cheese strategy:

requires: hercules
suggested: orbital command, medic upgrades

scv/mule/reactor on rax, fusion core when starts. pump a few medics and a few marines, when fusion core finishes build a hercules, banshees are kinda useless because they'll have detection. when fire gets near, lift off buildings to bottom and start sending them > but not too far so that they get attacked by toss. load up all units including scv into your hercules, scv will be used as hit takers and repairers. take your hercules to the top and then >, you will get hit a few times but its ok sicne your hercules has lots of hp. drop right on top of the first cannon behind the artifact, and then kill that and the 2nd cannon. when it is clear, pick up and drop where the 2nd cannon was to kill the pylon from there. then, pick up/drop where that pylon (SAVE HERE) was and have your hercules spot the high ground (hold position is useful because it will try to run from air units) however, your herculues should survive because it has a ton of scv repairing it, after you take out archons/air/ whatever kill the artifact. my first time aruond a ton of collosus came because i guess i was too slow so thats when i reloaded my save. remember to have hercules spot the high ground for you

I'm trying this MMM/Banshee strategy everyone seems to rave about, but my marines get melted by colossi whenever I try to attack the first base. What am I doing wrong?

Im having the same problem. I eventually tried the strategy where you hide your buildings/units in the bottom right corner and let the fire clear out the protoss base, but either I would go too early and my banshees would die, or I would wait too long and the fire would destroy the artifact. Im thinking about just trying a mass medic/marauder drop from a Hercules.

Also, I was reading some posts where people claimed they were still able to win even with the fire attacking the temple. Do you just have to make sure you get the last hit, or is the artifact located far right enough to give a little extra time?

I didn't build any additional banshees, just went mnm tank and pushed along the top side. Just keep the mnm mostly back and let the tanks (especially the siege breakers if you can keep them alive) take care of all the of dangerous stuff.

For the relic, a cheap way to do it (like you can do with any relic) is just to save energy on your orbital command if you have it, scan and mule the exact relic spot. 100 energy and no units (the mules doesn't count!) lost to extract any relic later on in the game.

Like atom, all I did was go MMM+T. Get a couple mercs and you should push with no problem.

I don't understand why people are having a bunch of trouble on this.

Basically, you just take banshees + a few wraiths, fly around the top, kill 3 cannons near the thing you need to kill, take out the scouts with the wraiths, and then cloak and kill the thing.

I completed this mission in like 15 minutes using this strategy, its super easy and requires no thought or skill whatsoever.

Colossi never really did anything to my M&M, there needs to be at least 2 for them to outrace medic healing anyway (assuming you have the medic heal upgrade, which you should if you're going M&M). The only time I ran into two at once when I didn't have a huge ball to begin with was at the first protoss base along the bottom--but at that base you can snipe one of the colossi with banshees easily.

I just went pure M&M except for my starting banshees and didn't really have any trouble. Psi storms can potentially make for a bad day, but templar are only in the latter parts of the mission and by then your bio ball should be big enough that unless you mismicro pretty horrendously you can take the hits.

I did media blitz first, so I pretty much just went mass thor/science vessel. Used the bansheees and 300mm cannons to get rid of hardened shields and put automated gysers on every base after I cleared it. CI cleaned up the last base with six thors, two siegebreakers, 3 hel's angels, a pair of science vessels and the banshees I got given, lost only the infantry they gave me at the start and one banshee. It's pretty easy once you get the knack, you just have to watch out for the attacks which can be pretty brutal (I got hit by six immortals at once at one point >.>)

lol ,just mass banshees, and fly everything to the right side of the screen, where the 4th relic is. then let the fire burn, until it starts hitting the temple, and u just fly in alllll of ur banshees and do as much dmg as u can. even if all them die. ull win because the temple starts burning earlier than ur own buildings, and its a close starport vs tower.
I had a test. if just fly starport to the right side, the temple will have 30 hp when ur starport dies (temple burns first)

Haha! Wow, that's really clever. I wish I thought of that.

I mostly used banshees like most people and had 2 drops with siege tanks. After many tries I saw a pit to the north of the temple. I dropped my tanks there and some SCVs and built a bunch of turrets to cover the tanks. I'd run in my banshees every now and then to see if there is opposition and if there was I dragged them close the cliff edge to greet my tanks.

I had siege tank +40 damage and turret splash. For this mission.

You can MMM tanks slow push every thing to the top right. Ofc the banshee taking out unnecessary damages and incoming pushes.
I dont get why people dont try playing on a hard or normal course, to get the achievements, then play Brutal with the whole map in your head.

my standard strategy:
1) get your protoss tech up to science vessels
2) make 2-4 SVs
3) non-stop banshee production, some M&M or vikings to back them up
4) dodge the storms
