I think it's the last level anyway. I'm playing on hard difficulty. The most I've managed to get the artifact charged is to 60%. It seems impossible after that...I've tried multiple strategies. My number one right now is creating a small mass of banshees to take out the nydus worms (that's what I chose to go against) and I hole up with bunkers and flame turrets, with marauders/marines/medic army. It usually gets too hectic after awhile. I've also been putting supply depots infront of my bunker to absorb and block some damage.
Anyone else having trouble with this? Any strats to share?
Edit: beat it pretty easily on hard by just going back and getting the PF upgrade along with tank upgrades and banshee upgrades. Tanks work so well for the nydus worms on this map. Going to try it on brutal soon.

I'm rofling because I'm in the exact same position using the exact same strategy except without the supply depots
[edit] are you getting Siege Tanks? It seems like I do a lot worse on this mission when I don't keep up with a nice Siege Tank count.

And a couple others sometimes. But I'm thinking of not spending the money on the tech lab for the factory and just building another barracks. IM SO DESPERATE

Ok I've just managed to finally finish it (on Brutal).
What I did was mass tanks (around 12 per side) behind the cliffs (not on high ground), with a craptons of bunkers i kept rebuilding at the chokes (my bunkers have the autoturret upgrade). Also made a group or 6-7 banshess patroling the map for nydus, and really, thats the most improtant thing, dont get the Z get too many nyduses :\
Also you have to makre sure you use the nova when you are about to get overrun, not when you start loosing stuff

Went perfectly, well, not the fastest to go for Nyduses, but they killed everything in the way. Lot's of Tanks, only like 6 on each side, but with flametrowers (flaming betty?) and turrets to assist the 3 bunkers. I was never even close to loose, i used the nova all the time, so no achievement for me... But is really banshee the right way to go? What about Kerrigan? Isn't she difficult with just Banshee and Tanks?

This is so easy to beat, especially if you have the upgrade that allows you to build with multiple SCVS. What I did was just open up with two more command centers just for the extra mules/scvs really fast. After that I went pure tank, planetary(two on the cliff w/ the artifact, and I ended up having 4 on each side so 10 total), with alot of SCVS.
Buy the tank upgrades that make them do 75% less dmg to your own stuff, and wah-.lah easy win. Did this on brutal on my second try, failed the first time because I just had no clue what my objective was lmao.
|
Yea that can be done if you have those upgrades I didn't have PF nore the 75% less damage >< Pf would have worked pretty well
And for me BC was jsut too slow at taking down the nyduses (and kerrigan just roflstomped them)
|
I think the 75% damage is buy-able with credits, but sadly the PF was a zerg/protoss relic thingy. Even without a PF, even a normal command center walloff/repair should hold pretty easily since a critical mass of tanks just melts zerg units so fast. I didn't even bother taking out the nydus worms outside my base since everything was obliterated pretty much instantly.

so has anyone done this with air enabled yet on brutal? I've gotten to 70% but it gets quite ridiculous at that point

My main problem is when Kerrigan comes, she absolutely wrecks all the tanks and one side gets totally opened up and invaded.

Just finished it on hard with no air but tons of nydus worms. Here is what I did:
1) Build an additional barrack, factory, starport, eng. bay and armory for faster upgrades 2) build 2 additional bunkers at each choke point as well as a bunker on the high ground 3) Get some banshees out fast for killing nydus worms. I started with BC´s but they were too slow. 4) Spam siege tanks! mine were fully upgraded and I think I had 15 or so in total. Also get marines/marauders for the bunkers. 5) IMPORTANT. Have 2-4 scv´s at each choke point for fast repair on tanks and bunkers. Also have a few scv´s at the artifact where you rally your banshees.
This worked pretty well for me. Only challenge was Kerrigan.

I am stuck at 97% on hard, man this broodlords everywhere are melting my turrets .

You can go back and re-do just about every mission to get the bonus objectives - once you max out your protoss and zerg research you'll get money instead of points.
I'd say the SCV upgrades, seige tank upgrades and planetary fortress are priorities for this mission, if you already missed the PF then make sure you have the bunker upgrades. If you're facing air then the viking upgrades are really good too.
I beat it on hard with my 2nd attempt (after getting to 98.7% on my first attempt haha) and it was pretty easy once I worked out the strategy.
I found that Kerrigan goes down pretty fast to a squad of stimmed marine/medic/marauders, I basically just had a squad of about 30 infantry in the centre of the base and would just use them to own her whenever she showed up, they were also really useful at dealing with anything that managed to get into the base.
On the perimeter I had 2-3 planetary fortress each side with tanks behind and vikings patrolling above and a ton of missile turrets everywhere, I had SCVs on auto repair everywhere, I also put two PFs next to the artifact, this setup pretty much held off everything automatically except Kerrigan and the air boss. The infantry squad took care of kerrigan when she showed up and the boss went down pretty easy to all my vikings.

Haha, I guess it's because I don't have any tank/PF upgrades. Guess I'll go back and do the research points for money.

i just finished the game on brutal. but anyways does anybody have an idea on how to egt the One Shot, Fifty kills. achievement on Belly of the Beast level. im always coming up short on how many kills i get its always around 30 or so. any tips would be helpful. my bnet is almightyironman@gmail.com

damn i should've done the other mission. i knew it was too fun to be true.
brutal with mutas and broodlords is just retardedly crazy

What the heck, you can't gain money from research points through going back and playing old missions. I'm stuck with the upgrades I have...

Try to just get the merc tanks, and just put like 3 facs uptop with the artifact and wall in with tanks and some marines covering the whole thing. I only played it on normal, but I lasted pretty damn long before I even had to use the artifact. Get +3 weap and speed(if you went this way) and you should be ok. Going to do a Brutal playthrough so yeah I'll check back and see if this worked for you.

Was working for a little bit, but kerrigan on the second time wrecked part of the wall and it flooded with lings.
Going to try it again later but with some banshees in the mix taking out the nydus worms, and also calling down mules to help repair with SCVs at the top.
|
What I did was I saved the artifact for whenever Kerrigan appeared, and I just spammed bunkers (with those auto turrets on top) everywhere. I got the Merc tanks ASAP, and then moved them to whichever side Kerrigan was on. I think the left side was easier to defend than the right side so I normally kept the merc tanks there. Then I had banshees running around killing nydus worms.
I had like 6 SCVs on both sides just sitting there repairing at all times along with around 6-7 bunkers with like 2-3 rines in each bunker and some just empty.
But I got rid of the air units on the level before so it's going to be different for those who didn't (sucks for you LOL)
When Kerrigan comes, she would waste her time on the bunkers while my tanks blew her into oblivion.
