I'd love to see him go to Italy. The two best of all time back at it again. Imagine him signing for someone like AC Milan or Lazio. Might make Serie A serious business again.

But still, if he leaves I think probably he would want to go to City with Pep.

Quite the summer saga we are going to have with this. I think there's a huge chance that Messi is trying to push Bartomeu out, but this would only further proof that he has too much control in the club and that's not good anyway. But if it's true he is trying to leave, it's one of the most unloyal ways possible: leaving 0 income to a club in debt and in need of a rebuild. I understand that Barcelona has failed to provide the best ever with a solid team for his last years, but that does not mean they haven't tried. They have been spending big, with poor success, but that's just how it goes sometimes. Messi should have forced them to accept the best offer with just the warning of leaving free if they didn't, that would have been better for both sides (kinda like CR did). Anyway, grab the popcorn, this is far from over

Also he would have left for free next season, they never really planned on getting money for him. Culés love him and will not hate him for leaving like that. If anything, they understand why and would wish him to be happy somewhere else (as long as it's not RM).

To Messi: I can really only see him in the PL. Chelsea seems done with spending already, that leaves LFC, ManU and City. Serie A is picking up its pace the last years, but it's not there yet IMO Bundesliga would only be Bayern and I can't imagine them picking up Messi cause he earns too much money and Bayern is very strict about salaries. That's why they are the best managed club in the world

He has that clause signed in his contract so he can force them to take a deal or leave on a free, he can force his way out but help the team rebuild at the same time. I don't know, 20 years should mean something to him to. A bad board is not an excuse to leave the club in shambles without, I don't know, netting 100 million to help.

seems the only clubs that could realistically afford him are city, psg and possibly united. as a united fan one can dream that messi doesnt want to associate with arab money but city seems like the likelier destination assuming they dont have ffp issues. Well if he leaves it does free up tons of money from his wage bill to help Barca rebuild.

He would be better off staying at Barca. If he goes to City it would be much better for him at this stage of his career.

United would be my dream, but it would be better for the club if he's not there (possible short-term success vs. development of young players). Agree with the general sentiment here, City most likely, PSG possibly.

That's why they are the best managed club in the world I was thinking the same question. There must have been talks about this between Koeman and the board before his appointment. But on the other hand, if he throws out the entire old elite (suarez, busi, pique), starts rebuilding and finishes about 5th in the league (my wild guess), he could well be on his way to make room for Xavi. That would make his job a stopgap with a small chance of the new team doing well straight from the get-go.

Apparently Koeman already had his fair share of shitshows because of his rather direct communication and his lack of tact https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/12444303/ronald-koeman-barcelona-reasons-wrong/

Then in the winter they sell him somewhere for a bit less than 700 millions (666 by psg), then he get injured first game, then the world cup comes and here we have two choices: either he is completely trash or he has been rested, he wants it all, he wins it, the rest is history, nobody watches football ever again, this is the peak scenario but we are in a sad simulation so none of that will happen

I think that unloyal is a word that better describe the leadership in Barca then Messi. Remember that they hired media company to do Attacks on social medie in contract situations and if they have against the president. So i can understand he is feed up. Think most club can afford his wages with all the extra merchandise they are gonna sell.
