Interesting group but pool should top it They play Tottenham a few days before. PSG and Liverpool have a similar level for the starting 11, but Klopp teams are unpredictable and they can probably lose points to all of the 3 other teams. PSG is more 'solid', they can also focus on the CL, so I think they're favorite. Not by much anyway, I can see any of PSG/Liverpool/Napoli go out and it won't be a big surprise.

I know the conversation has moved way past this but it needs correcting anyway. Spurs have only played in the Champions League the last 2 years. They didn't qualify for it at all 4 years running before that. However they did play a lot in the Europa League which at least picks up points. The ranking is based on the last 5 years and 2 of those years Liverpool didn't play in Europe at all. Not even the Europa League. So of course Spurs are ranked above Liverpool. Anyway some good ties in that draw. Dortmund get to prove their metal against Atletico, Spurs really get to prove theirs against Barca and the other two clubs in that group aren't excatly push overs either. Liverpool shuld get out of their group but we will have good games with them against PSG and Napoli, Munchen and Cityhave quite easy groups. Madrid vs Roma could be fun but both will easily get out of that group. I don't see Yanited getting out of their group though. It's not the toughest but Yanited look terrible at the moment and could struggle against all three of those teams. Didn't they lose to Young boys last year?

Interesting to see how much Favre has managed to piece together by october. They did beat Leipzig 4-1 on Bundesliga, but allowed a silly first minute goal and got roughly 3 out of 3 from set pieces while being pretty quiet otherwise. In the present form I don't think they could really threaten Atletico.

Spain squad against Croatia and England is hilarious. Luis Enrique left out Jordi Alba because they have a bad relation since his Barça tenure (Nacho and Koke out is interesting too).

I mean every group is a rough group for us, every team in pot 1 and 2 are clearly one level above us and most teams from pot 3 are, too. I think we're one of the best teams from pot 4 but still pot 4 for a reason.

I don't know how UEFA allows this. Because they operate on technicalities. What Uefa forbids is the same individual/legal entity owning two clubs, so two separate legal entities were created to own the two clubs and finances/management were split completely. They get around the fan/member ownership requirement the German league has by having 17 Red Bull executives/family/friends being the only official members and not accepting any new ones. It technically complies with the rules and no Uefa/DFB exec wants to change/clarify the rules and fight the resulting lawsuits

You can for example do some financial fair play dodging with practically internal transfers.

There is, but that ownership rule is only about having clubs meet in CL/EL, so would possibly only apply to the club world cup and neither English nor American teams look capable of qualifying for that anyway. Unless it shifts to a 32 team format, of course.
