It is said that a red is given if that was the last defender, but technically in the rulebook, it's the last two defenders, because as you said, the goalkeeper is counted as one, so it should be a red in this case. It's called the "last man" before the goalkeeper, and it can be the goalkeeper himself. That rule needs to be rewritten to be more explicite though.
That was sarcasm. There is also universal agreement that it was just a massive fuck up by the referee in this case not to give a red card, same goes for Iniesta. The other decisions from last night at least are all judgement calls made in the moment, some incorrect but as always calling them favouritism when we can't even make half of them without four different replay angles is just the usual bullshit. Suarez elbow was judged as an unintentional act trying to go for a header. Happens three times a game and we would all be taking it in stride if it wasn't Suarez. Neymar kick out was apparently seen as just a "regular" foul instead of violent conduct, looked like a wrong call to me but again, slow motion replays... Handball was in the box and should have been a penalty, but close call and all that. Much worse call there was that it should have been a 2nd yellow for someone.
We have had controversial refereeing decisions every single year in Uefa competitions, this year we even got lucky that they were not as decisive to the results as they have been in previous years. As always it would be awesome if people stopped acting like the refs perfectly see everything and just make calls to advance the agenda against (insert favorite team here)..
Defending ref decision saying they balanced out is totally the wrong way to handle it imo. A (not-)given red or penalty is horrible but even an early must-yellow that is not given can influence the whole series.
We just don't know how a game would unfold if other decisions were taken. Bayern could've broken into pieces after the red card, Atletico might've become too confident and offensive against an early 10-man Barca und run into a counter-attack.
And in my opinion it doesn't matter what implications a decision has on the game. It only matters if it is correct according to the rulebook. Doesn't matter if it's 2nd league games or world cup finals.
Yeah City vs PSG. PSG got a penalty from Luiz dive first leg and luckily Hart saved it, thus no one talks about it. City get a penalty which should have been a red card to the keeper, but luckily they went through so no one talks about it. Barca played very poorly and lost to Atletico Madrid who nullified them perfectly as they seem to do so well in the champions league, thus no one is talking about Iniesta being sent off etc. Penalty not called in the last minute vs Torres being harshly sent off/Suarez not getting a red for his boot. The decisions balanced out with the right teams going through.
It wasn't like Bayern vs Benfica was Chelsea Barca 2010 was it xd
ATM also won la Liga with a goal in offside at Camp Nou in the last deciding game and nobody talks about it... because they deserved to win that Liga (Barça threw it as much as they deserved it too).
They clearly didn't deserve to move through this CL. They were the much better team for 35 minutes in the first game and that's about it. Both second halfs were all Barça domination. Nobody will talk about the last minute pen because they are the underdog and they worked hard for it tho.
What would happen if the roles were reversed? If Barça is winning and ATM don't get that last minute pen called? The players, coach and media would lose their shit and call blatant robbery, uefalona... all the usual bs.

What !?
Possession =/= Playing well, yesterday it was a super easy game for ATM, they knew how to play and make Barcelona play at their will.
Bar one or two Suarez shot (See the stats, ATM attacked more than Barcelona, at least, they shot more), Oblak was never ever in danger, Barcelona never had a single easy way into the penalty bar one that was all on Suarez, after that it was cross after cross with Pique going forward and maybe a shot or 2 from outside the box
Barcelona was only the better team for 45 minutes, and btw, Sport.es literally said that Barcelona was robbed...

That's because they are hot blooded fanboys They hid that shit fast enough, if you check their main page right now, the first three big titles you can read are: "The 5 mistakes that condemned Barça", "The fans blame the players and think the elimination is deserved" and "Leo Messi and the two reasons of his slump".

Thank you! How dare I, making jokes in such a dire situation! ^-^
Now lets forget about all that, moving on to euro league:
Can Dortmund win at Anfield Road as the first German team ever? Can Sevilla live up to their efficiency and score 2 goals 2 with 2 shots again? . . .

Offside on a corner. Nice try.
There was some big ref mistake for sure, and I think it was about an offside. Probably an unallowed goal by Barça then. Or maybe something else, dunno. Can't be bothered to google it while at work.
There was a disallowed offside goal by Messi. If you freeze the replay and throw a magnifier over it you can see that it came of an Atletico defender and not a Barca player. Again something no one was able to see in live play.
