Fatigue.
Mexico knows the level of play is higher in Copa America but getting to the Confeds is more important since even if they somehow won Copa America they'd get nothing.
Ecuador 2-1 Mexico. Really good game. Ecuador should have used their chances better, and with some help from the ref, they'd have a chance from the penalty spot. Ecuador have a small chance of advancing, which depends on if the other group third-placed teams end up with worse goal difference. I'll need to look up how they break ties between the threes.
Edit: Here's how the tie between the threes are broken:
Rules for classification: 1) points in all group matches; 2) total goal differential; 3) total goals scored; 4) lots drawn by CONMEBOL.
Yeah, Uruguay, or both losing teams from group C need to lose by 2 goals or more. However, Ecuador have scored 4 goals, so they're in a good position if there's equal goal difference.
Worth mentioning is that both Chile and Bolivia are through to the quarter-finals after the previous match. Just left to decide who wins the group.
Vidal starts for Chile.
