Ecuador takes the lead! Valencia attempts a shot, and a big deflection becomes a perfect pass to Bolaños, who gets to the ball first at the far post and scores. Mexico 0-1 Ecuador after the first half. Very good game. High pace and loads of chances, even if the pace has slowed a bit as Ecuador defend their lead. | ||

Penalty for Mexico. Jimenez to take. Long run up aaaaaaaaand he strikes it down the middle, as Dominguez goes left. 1-2, and game on! Valencia does it all for Ecuador and places the ball on a platter for Bolaños, who completely freezes and gets caught by the defenders. Could have killed the Mexican spirit with a quick 1-3. | ||

Oh, dear. Looks like there should have been a penalty for Ecuador. A Mexican defender takes the ball away from Montero with his upper arm. Hard to spot for the ref, I think. And I think Herrera, Mexico's manager, might have been sent to the stands, but I'm not sure. The ref seemed to want him away from the game, at least. | ||
