Well to be fair, interview straight after a game are a terrible time to expect rationality.

I'm still not sure what to make of this, just looking at the ref it looks this happens instantly after the full time whistle and Neymar appears to look at the ball and just fire it away. That there is a player he hits and that it is a player that is celebrating seems completely unintentional.
Not that it absolves him, it remains incredibly stupid, but doesn't that make it pretty similar to the Chelsea player at the end of the season?
If he had intentionally shot it at him this tournament would be over for him, as in 5 game ban or something, but if they can argue intent he might be able to play in the semi finals/finals. Now Brazil would just have to get that far.

The Conmebol Disciplinary Tribunal have provisionally suspended Neymar for two games after his actions in the aftermath of Brazil's 1-0 defeat to Colombia, and will meet on Friday to decide the final punishment.
