Practice matters certainly, but Thibs has a bit of a history here. Like Deng leading the league in minutes a bunch of years in a row and being obviously gassed in the playoffs. Or Noah's plantar fasciitis, an injury that basically screams about an overworked body. You praise the Bulls for going hard all the time, but the reason this is a 'story' is that there's strong evidence that teams do better in the playoffs if they pace themselves. Consider the Spurs and the way they manage minutes. Thibs doesn't need to turn into Pop and rest dudes all the time, but his team would be better off if he reign in some short-term competitiveness for long-term benefits.

oh and guess what even with SA resting people, more often than not someone always gets injured.Ive been a spur fan long enough to know that pop doesnt rest people just because,it helps the odds of you not getting injured but it never fixes the problem, winning the championship is like a perfect storm of not only having the best players, coach and sistem but also having luck on your side

if you don't say something when someone's pants are sagging, that person might be the person who ends up robbing and killing you. - rookie tips 2014

That could be a chicken or egg situation, though. It could be correlating deepness with title chances.

I know this is really random, but I'm searching for a video of a moment from the ASG about ten years ago. I was watching old Shaq/KG/Duncan highlights and it reminded me of this, but I can't find it anywhere so I'm appealing to you all.
Duncan and KG are about to take the floor and they're mic'd up, and Duncan turns to KG and says "you got Shaq" and walks away leaving KG dumbfounded. It would have had to have been when Shaq was on Cleveland I think because Duncan would have to be Western Conference. Does anyone else remember this, and does video exist?

Could be any year from 2005-2007 when Shaq was on the Heat. However, Yao started in a bunch of those games, and I think KG didn't start in all of them.

EDIT: Yao was voted to start one of those without playing a game, IIRC. Could have been that one.

I think Wiggins' hype is overtaking his talent level. Same with Parker. But I guess we'll know enough in 3 years.

^I don't really think so, I think people are saying that their potential could be really good, I don't know if anyone is saying those players are really good now.
speaking of potential, I'd really love if both Noel and Embiid worked out for the 76ers, that would be hella fun to watch.

er uh....a lot of writers were going apeshit over Wiggins and Parker off of that McDonalds All Star game. Guys were saying they'd be stars in the NBA immediately. They were called the most hyped class since 2003 for a reason (writers thinking they'd be rookie Melo/Lebron level)
ETA: I think Philly ripped everyone off. I can see both Noel AND Embiid being very good. Philly might be monstrous in 3 years.

The Noel and Embiid pairing is an interesting one to me. Both seem to be best suited to playing center since Noel seems to be in the Tyson Chandler mold and Embiid seems poised to do the most damage from the paint with his post scoring. Unless Embiid continues to develop his range (which he's shown some flashes of) or Noel suddenly learns to shoot, I could see spacing issues if they're played together. They'd certainly combine to create some amazing rim protection though.

They'd certainly combine to create some amazing rim protection though. I think Philly's plan isn't really to play both of them at once. It's taking 2 high risk high reward players (what with injury/possibility of a bust and all) and hoping at least one of them turns into a superstar. If both do/turn out well then you can always trade one. I think Philly is trying to do some combination of OKC/HOU type shit where you draft a bunch of really good dudes in a row and get superstars for cheap, while stacking as many assets in young players and draft picks as you can so you're in prime position to acquire a superstar/all-star via trade should the opportunity arise. They're betting that multiple of their draft picks work out and stockpiling additional ones for trade. If both Noel and Embiid turn into good players you can easily package one of them with some draft picks/other young potential players that you acquired through the draft into another piece. Philly's basically saying that they have more opportunities to bet big because they're accumulating more draft picks that it doesn't matter if 2 or 3 of them bust as long as one of them turns into a star, and it's unlikely that all of their high potential picks turn out to be busts.
There were reports of Embiid draining 3s again and again in pre-draft workouts for teams so I wouldn't be surprised if Philly tries to turn an ibaka/Bosh on him where they let him develop at least a corner 3 to space the floor.

So when does Philly trade for Kendrick Perkins?

Yeah, I get what they're trying to do by just taking the best player available and stockpiling assets a la OKC. I just thought the idea of actually playing the two side-by-side was an interesting one.
They could theoretically develop Embiid into a Bosh/Ibaka type, but I think they'd be wasting what appears to be a potentially devastating post presence by doing so. Ibaka never showed a knack or ability in the post on offense and Bosh had to sacrifice his to complement Lebron and Wade, so the situations are a bit different. The appeal of Embiid is that he has shown the potential to be dominant in the post and the focal point of an offense, like Pau, Blake, Duncan (younger version), Olajuwon, etc. Turning him into a spot up shooter and/or moving him away from the basket would not make the most of the talent he's shown glimpses of so far, even if he does develop decent range at some point.
This is all speculation though. We have no idea what the Sixers will look like in a few years and development would likely be somewhat affected by what the team needs from each position.

On that note, rumor has it Philly got in on the Love trade by trading Thad Young to Minny for Bennett. Sources are a little sketchy, so take that as you will.

Poor Young. He really needs to go to a playoff team :/
