It's no wonder that the loosey-goosey Clippers team isn't responding as well as the battle-hardened Celtics. Although, really, he should have had a bit more success than he did in Boston. Two Finals appearances is great, but you can't attribute all of that dropoff to age. Maybe I'm looking at D'Antoni backwards. The knock was that he only wanted to coach a particular way and wouldn't adjust to personnel. The truth is that TEAM had to be coached a very particular way and it was the polar opposite of D'Antoni. I don't like calling Doc a fraud, but going purely by definition he just might qualify. I don't know what he is or was "running", but the championship came too easy for him to get enough coaching credits. And the job Thibs was doing is responsible for what Celts were considered good at. KG, Pierce and Rondo ran everything on the floor, if there was a team in NBA that couldn't care less for a coach it was that Celtics team. Supposedly, Rivers is good at helping players gel and is respected enough to manage egos. There's definitely some truth to that, but he sure had his issues managing personnel in Boston. Never for a second i regretted him leaving.

It's still a shame we didn't get to keep more of our talented bench players though. On that topic, Gibson's offense is looking a lot better this year.

The defense has gotten a bit more cohesive (they tried running a fucking 2-3 zone today, and immediately gave up a layup) and Drummond is slowly adding to his offense, but overall the offense is still crap. Jennings was still taking terrible shots, he was just making them today. And somehow Josh Harrelson sparked the team. Bulls are just totally depleted again, and Boozer and Heinrich shot extremely poorly, as did the whole team from 3.

It made PG step up. But this team is definitely better with Granger out there. Look forward to getting him back.
