Clubs owned by Abramovic/UAE/others aren't doing that well? Well, what did you expect, that the first season after injecting cash into PSG, PSG will win the champions league? All these clubs are doing well by any standards that don't include winning everything the first season with new owners.
Not sure what the sentence "Arsenal isn't a business, it's a football club" even means. Sure, it's a football club. But it's not owned by the public, the government, or the fans, it's owned by Arsenal Holdings, which is mostly Stan Kroenke and that Uzbeki guy whose name I forgot. And, thankfully for Arsenal fans I feel, his motivation is commercially growing the club which coincides with success of the club over time (usually). I believe Arsenal are like the 3rd or 4th highest valued football club in the world (!).
Agreed though, if they want higher levels of success they will need to be less stringy and buy already established players (and especially be better at convincing star players to stay).

Can't really blame them, and it's great for longterm sustainability. Look what happened to Malaga, where the club is now falling apart because they were relying on money that isn't coming in anymore. Just need to readjust expectations . As long as they get top4 and champions league football they should be satisfied imo. If they still aren't willing to splash the cash, maybe in a few years they can challenge again once the new crop of Wenger youngsters are ready. Arsenal isn't a business, it's a football club. It's not like the outlet for billionaires are even doing that well, the dominant teams are Bayern, Utd and Barcelona. None of which scared to splash a little cash when needed. What? Arsenal, as with any other team, is a business.

Hope for Arsenal fans? Gonzalo Higuain's presentation at Napoli has been cancelled. No reason from the club.

All I can say is please Abramovich buy us a striker. We need someone and my first choice (Bony) has been nabbed by ultimate wheeler dealers Swansea. We need Rooney to deliver us! Although Ba is a quality player we need more than just 2 strikers!

It's not that bad I wouldn't mind going into the season with Lukaku Torres and Ba, they would get 25-30goals between them easy (all 3 that is)
Chelsea 4-0 Indonesia all stars at half time, it's pretty much shooting practice and one way traffic if anyone is interested. It just gone half time

Me too. After I recognised the players I thought "Why the hell are Benzema, Özil and Morata in a Chelsea kit?". But yeah, obv. it's not a Chelsea kit :D

He is amazing but...is he Suarez / RVP / Rooney quality yet?
I am REALLY pleased about Lukaku, but come on, we are so stacked in all other positions it seems weird we haven't got a straight up number 1 striker to hang our hat on.

I said that well. You gave me the impression that Arsenal can't challenge these teams which IMO just isn't true. Arsenal have strong finances, Arsenal are one of the most valued football clubs in the world, just like you mentioned, and continuously made a profit for almost a decade now. Over the years the large stadium debt and some dreadful wage management have kept Arsenal from fully reaching it potential, but with both of those issues slowly coming to and end it should be competing amongst the top again.
My point about Arsenal not being a business is that making a profit should be a method to reach a goal and not the goal itself. Honestly we both seem to agree that Arsenal could be a little less stingy.

The black 3rd Chelsea kit looks exactly like the Real Madrid away one... hmmm Addidas, I wonder

Yep. I think if they sign Suarez (as reported by the press recently) it could be a great marquee signing. Ain't gonna challenge the title with Giroud and Bendtner.

Any of you guys from Greece who know this guy?
How did he play last year?
Our deal with Djebbour fell through (refused to complete medical? more like agent/player being greedy), but apparently we were set on getting an Algerian player from Greece so we got Abdoun now instead

Yea, that RM kit is terrible.
In other news, Bayern vs. BVB coming up on Saturday in the German Supercup. Should be fun to watch.
|
^ First of 6 titles the bayern can win this season. ( )Bundesliga ( )DFB Pokal ( )Champions League ( )German Supercup 27.Juli ( )European Supercup 30.August ( )Club World Championship 11-21.December
|
Isn't it eight? They already won the Telekom Cup and Uli Hoeness Cup.
|
I am not sure those count officially as titles.
