I don't believe it is contradictory. The blackout was the momentum stopper the 9ers needed to get their heads back in the game, especially after that return. It however wouldn't excuse the Ravens for not doing enough for the rest of the game to get the win... Not sure what your issue is with the description of the ravens getting outplayed on resumption of the game. They were. But they still did enough to win.

Expect doesn't prevent. You might not get ALL 5 yards on the 1st carry, but you'll most likely get 5 yards on 3 carries. Roman or whatever his name is (49er offensive cord) is an "all or nothing guy". This is a case of over thinking instead of relying on basics. You're being ignorant if you don't accept that things like this affect players... it happens in sport all over the world on a regular basis. They are people, not brainless robots. Unexpected, unnecessary, unusual stops in play are often off-putting for the player/team in front and sometime s assist the player/team behind. It's a chance to reset; talk to coaches, clear your head, restrategise, think about how much it means, etc etc.

But then how could you fault a Ravens fan for blaming the blackout for the fact that the 49ers got back into the game? Without the blackout, the 49ers would not have gotten back into the game, according to you.

I'll be honest, if I was a 49er fan Id be pissed off at the touchdown pass holding no-call too. But since I'm neither a 49er fan nor a Ravens fan, I still think that call woulda been too hard to make. Smith grabs Crabtree's jersey, Crabtree pushes Smith down by the helmet. Practically simultaneous, hard to say in real time, still difficult to call in slowmo. If it went the other way and the videos showed Crabtree pushing Smith down, I think it would have had the same reaction except from the other fan base obviously. Anyway, you don't see 49ers caring about the BS roughing the kicker call that allowed them to be 5 points down instead of 8 points. You don't see them complaining about a 30 minute blackout that allowed them to collect their nerves and cooldown the Ravens momentum.

In my opinion they probably wouldn't have got back into the game so much, however I have already stated why I would fault a Ravens fan for blaming the blackout had they actually lost. Here it is again: the blackout is but one factor in the game, and they could have either done enough in the first half (they did) to see them through or they could have done enough whilst the momentum was against them (they did... barely) to win. BL 49ers, outplayed on the day :\
