They hardly did any running because of reliability issues caused by their car. Newey said so himself. When you consider Red Bull win because they are awesome and lose because of Renault, you can take that as truth.

Mercedes have the same advantage that McLaren had in 1998, and Vettel and RedBull have the potential to challenge them. Alonso has a glimmer of a chance too. Well, wasn't it last year which started with 8 different winners from 8 different races? Or was that the one before that? This we won't see anything but a Mercedes winner until the 2 week break where they can change engines gearbox's etc and add the odd upgrade. F1 does need to be more about drivers than cars, the cars now are harder to driver or take more to "drive" than the previous models i'll give them that. Lots and lots of under steer occur in these races now due to cars having so much talk. Hamilton talking about this alot during his interview on his pole lap. Just saying that there is so much torque that the power is to much for the tyres and you get no grip and lots of under steer. Which means you have to drive the car much better and smarter, hunting down the perfect lines into corners and extra grip on the track etc. However we don't know if drivers like Bottas in their Williams are either really good drivers and getting the best out of the Williams are they are just in a superior car to those around them, as to me they look so quick. So not sure, be interesting to see those, but the rest of the season looks like the one before, except maybe this time Hamilton wins <3

For now, Ricciardo is doing better than him -_- In Malaysia, Ricciardo covered Alonso after the second stop. Vettel went several laps longer on old tires. On Sunday, Vettel still seems better so far. Also, Ferrari's (especially Raikkonen's) gears are really short. Popping 8th in all 3 straights, holding 7th through 12, whereas Hamilton was holding 5th.

But man, I do not understand how Mercedes developed their car so well opposed to the other teams. Very impressive.
