I think that's really what it comes down to. Try things, and if they make you feel healthier, stick to them. For me, paleo with milk feels good. some people eat grains; some people only eat whole grains. Some of us eat a lot of fruit, some of us drink protein shakes. Friends of mine at school who are into lifting swear by lunch meats, especially because the alternative is often skipping a meal. Find what makes you feel good, and what works for your situation. Really, your universal rules are the most "correct" things you're going to find - avoid things that are processed, and make sure to get your veggies. The rest is up to you.
That is pretty much what I was getting at, yea. To be honest since cutting out the processed junk (poptarts and pizza products mostly, but also hamburgers and soda) I have felt a lot better. In fact for several years I had clinical depression, and a general lack of energy. The farther away I got from processed things, the more energy I had and the less depression. Paleo a cure for depression? Maybe, heh. Point is, I've probably been over thinking the paleo diet. I'm feeling great right now, so what if I eat a turkey sandwich?
Perhaps I should be focusing less on what is universally agreed upon as good, and instead focus on avoiding what is (nearly) universally agreed on as bad: Processed food and drink, especially ones heavy in sugar. There might not be a consensus on what is healthy but there does seem to be one on certain unhealthy foods.

Just curious. Has anyone here had an eating disorder? I've had some problems over the last year that I don't really know how to characterize.

As far as controlling depression and overall mood, I've looked into foods and supplements that have been observed to block cortisol. So far I've included in my diet: Onion Juice in addition to Quercitin supplements, Vitamin D, Grape Seed Extract and more berries in general. Also the neuro Transmitter GABA helps but I don't know how that is derived from actual food. Some doctors have experimented with mega-Doses of Niacin to treat depression and have reported positive results.

Personally, i think the 150 is better because 150<159.
Also, do any of you guy take protein powders, etc? lol Mtn View? Fwiw I go to the SuperSport nextdoors on weekends How much do you pay?
$1000 for 3 years = $27.78 per month.

Clean: 155 lb x 3 x 5 I've been practising form at 135, and today decided to move it up to 155, cleared it really easily and felt really great :D
Nice squats!

Side note- really starting to enjoy the overhead press. Improving technique and just finished off 150x5x5 feels good feels great Plz tell me about OH Press form. I'm all ears. Well for me personally I wasn't keeping a straight bar path. Just had to focus on getting my head out of the way and push through it as opposed to around it. And just really squeezing my back and tri to finish it off. Im no expert but it's worked for me!!! squeeze your gut too. shit works wonders. and breathe. and scream shit if you can't. gogo.
Will do this on sunday!!

The second one. Decaf is a monster.
Closest I could consider myself to having an "eating disorder" is that I never feel like it's time to have "a meal" - I've got ~6 pounds of hamburger and 3 pounds of chicken frozen in my garage right now, yet I'm constantly eating a can of tuna, some hardboiled eggs, or snacking on carrots. Hard to hit those calorie goals without eating real meals.

Just to clarify... he's joking about how it's hard to eat that much. Since it's probably easier than looking through this massive thread to quote it, decaf is trying to bulk hardcore, but he's already big and has a full schedule.
I've had eating issues in the past, but you'd probably never be able to tell from how I looked; didn't lose/gain significant weight from it. That was more of a result of depression though, not anything that would fall under eating disorders under the DSM.

i used to weigh 135 kilo couple of years ago because of depression and general lack of activity.. i ate to feel better (like 80% of obese people).. now i eat clean ffoods and woprkout regularly and dropped over 40 kilo

Rippetoe says that you can't get big and strong from eating 3,000 calories a day, and you can't get 6,000 calories a day by eating 100% clean.
Hit your protein goals and then go to KFC, I say.

I havent been at a gym for the last ~8 months when my gym memebership ended. Didnt really progress for a long time back then, looking back i did the normal misstakes e.g not resting enough, working out for too long and using mainly machines.
Now i have been reading up on SS and been practicing form the last two weeks until i got done with all my studies . I've read a lot about nutrition in general, paleo and leangains, and im already eating good food, except for grains. So ill try to remove them and eat like fuck + drink as much milk as possible during this summer. My eating habits will probably be frowned upon by my mother, but i'll just ignore her and continue munching as much as possible .
Will post weights after i've done my first workouts

Just bought 2,5kg of strawberries for 5€. God, I love strawberries.
edit: That's a total of 800 kcal btw

So I've been trying out madcow for a couple of weeks ( yeah I know , I said I was going to do texas method ) and I burnt out after todays'(Friday) workout. Failed on my third set. Has anyone have experience with this ?
You have 5 sets , ramping up towards a heavy triple How much should the increments be between each set? right now I'm using 10lbs as increments I think its too little.

That's actually way too little. The increments should actually be more like around 10%. So for example:
60%x5 70%x5 80%x5 90%x5 100%x3 80%x8
But you don't need to follow these numbers religiously, microloading on 60% doesn't make much sence. For someone who wants to go for a triple at 250, I would do something like this:
135x5 175x5 200x5 225x5 250x3 200x8
Here you will find everything you need to know, plus there is probably a spreadsheet hidden somewhere: http://stronglifts.com/madcow/index.htm

Just to add to what I wrote above, even with your 10lb increases, you should never ever fail at your 3rd work-set after a couple of weeks. The third work set should always be easy, you have to do a backup-set for 8reps with this weight at the end of the workout. I would assume that you started weigh to high. What routine did you do before and what did your numbers look like when you transitioned?
