When I first started lifting this wasn't true, but since then I've come to love the feeling of being sore the next day. It's a conscious reminder every time I make a movement that I worked my ass off yesterday.

It unfortunately doesn't happen unless I slip up/have finals/get sick or whatever and miss a week or more at the gym. So it's a motivator in that I love it, but also a motivator in that it reminds me I could be ahead of where I am right now.

There is also flexibility exercises for getting your elbows up neco. Just remember to drive your elbows up at the catch. Fast rack position = better ability to catch heavy weights

So it is good if your traps are really sore after doing cleans? because mine were after Tuesdays workout

The sorest my traps have ever been was after my first workout power cleaning with proper form :p

Hmm, today for the first time in a really long time (something like ten years I shit you not), I looked in the mirror and felt like I looked good.

I know that I'm going to come across as a vain asshole saying this, but I was happy with what I saw. 10% body fat incoming.

Alright, rain or shine, I am going to take progress pictures at the end of this month and post them here. Just another motivator for me to stick to paleo and work hard in the gym.

It's always awesome that first time you look in the mirror and smile. I'm not sure exactly when it happened but i've gone from like 20 to 15 a couple times and then finally went from 15-10 over the summer and was just like "wtf when did that happen"

I used to love it. But now it just pisses me off because that means i cant lift heavy multiple days in a row

Today's upcoming workout:

90kg squat (second increase after reset from ~105kg to 80kg)
47.5kg press (first increase after reset from ~50kg to 42.5kg)
Pullups
Instead of power cleans, I'll probably do some clean practice as well based on the videos DimSum linked. It sucks that there are no experienced people around my gyms to guide me on the harder lifts.

Anyway, can't wait.

edit: p.s. DimSum, teleport to Finland kthx.

fux my right elbow still pissing me off (going on 2nd week now). doesn't hurt while doing exercise, but immediately after chins or presses it hurts for a while (not 'good' pain too). in the area where i drew the circle: + Show Spoiler +
[image loading]

then it kind of goes away, only feels a bit tender if i press there. the next day i usually don't feel anything even if i press, but it inevitably comes back next time im at the gym

any ideas? hope it's not distal bicep tendon or whatever >.<

Dragged my ass to the gym yesterday, not feeling pumped at all but had a good workout regardless.

Deadlift: 102.5kg x 20 (lol)
Good Morning: 5 sets of 50kg x 10 (focusing on stretch, low weight)
Pullups: 3 sets of BW x 5 (hate those so much...)
BB Row: 3 sets of 70kg x 6 (strict form)
Pulldowns: 8pl x 10, 10pl x 10 and 12pl x 10 (testing out the lat pulldown machine, the last set was the only one I had to put any effort into)

Not really doing much oly lifting besides power clean, but goddam those videos pump me up haha.

Alright today's workout:

Squat: 235lbs x 3 x 5 - personal best and I'm really feeling a lot more comfortable with my form. I still need to set a video up though and have ya'll critique.

Bench: 190 x 3 x 5 - just missed the last 2 reps on my last set, spotter had to help me a bit.

Dead lift: 275 x 1 x 5 - god i love dead lift lol, i actually think i could do a bit more, but i wanna keep goin up steadily every workout.

Overall felt really good about this workout, im sooo pumped, can't wait to see how much i gain after like 5 or 6 weeks of this.

Did some hang clean practicing with a bar and later added 10kg. I had conceptualized the exercise in my head pretty well based on the videos linked earlier, but realized I hadn't given special attention to legs in the jumping part, so it was kind of lame. Can't wait to get back there.

Like totally reworked my second pull. THANK YOU DIMSUMMMM. Went through the cal strength progression, widended up my grip on snatch so it hangs at my hips, and did a decent amount of work from a high hang. Took a couple vids of it for critique, used 135 on both. Catch is kinda sloppy cause i murdered my shoulders yesterday. Pretty sure my second pull is a lot faster now and more hip involvement. First pull very slow on purpose to emphasize second pull and keep it tight to my body. Will try some live speed lifts on monday! Cant wait to get back to my WLC

I don't know a great deal about Olympic lifts, but your first and last snatch you're pushing off your toes, second one looks good.

I could of course be totally wrong.

Edit: 5th training session for the year today, had shoulders and another spin class. I am impossibly drained. If I'm not sporting 8-10% body fat by march I'll be a little bit upset at myself.

I always thought that cleans and snatches were supposed to involve a weight transfer from your heels to your toes, as your hips come forward.
