I ordered the starting strength book! cant wait to read it. had a (forced) break because of exams but next week I will start up again! im actually looking forward to it if you told me last year that i would actually like doing sports, i would not have believed it! now its true hehe

How the hell does an experienced weightlifter or bodybuilder relate to judgment. From what I know, they're usually very friendly. I think what they in fact mean by "judgment-free zone" is that you don't have to worry about feeling shit and insecure because the guy next to you is squatting half a ton. I'm not sure if that's bad if it lowers the barrier to hit the gym, because I really wish it would've been lower for me. Still, people should just grow a pair.

i usually dislike memes a lot but i laughed at that. I tried a belt yesterday for the clean and jerk. I felt pretty good. My split jerk is fucking terrible. My back leg goes too far out so I have trouble recovering.

as you can see my leg is too far back so i cant recover right.

i just switched from squat jerking lolol I only been split jerking for 2 months. My clean is not very good right now. I left it a bit forward..

Lifting for at least a year and a half with a coach.

My buddy and usual training partner and I are starting a weightlifting club at my school, and getting olympic lift help from one of our gym teachers/general fitness gods.

2011 for the fucking win.

Dimsum how do i get my second pull to look more like yours?

Neo, HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Also, try relaxing your arms (not your grip) just before you pull it. Just think of them as ropes attached to your shoulders that just pull and catch the weight.

Had a light workout today since i got off early, OHP 3x5 @ 165 (this was my max in spring lol), PowerClean 3x5 @ 185, and bench 5x5 @ 225. Dinner was half a pound of %4 fat ground beef in pasta sauce. My mom is like "where the fuck is your pasta?" PALEO MODE GOGO
how reasonable is it to eat off wood instead of your tummy?

Just a quick question to all lifting gods..

Do you guys warm up? I remember on SS (videos and book) it said somewhere that it was adviced to warm up before doing your work sets and that it should be 3 to 4 warmups sets then your worksets.

For example, in Squat I warmup like this:
65kg x 10
75kg x 5
85kg x 5
95kg x 5 (last warmup set)
105kg x 3 x 5 (worksets).

Is this any good in terms of warming up? I feel super comfy when doing these, and specially the last one prepares me for the fucking 105kg squatting, which is like when I'm done, I feel like "fuck yeah bitches".

Waiting on input on this. <3.

SS has a warmup calculator here

So SS would have issues with your warmup because you are doing a lot of work at 85 and 95kg. The suggested warmup only has a couple reps at the weights close to your work weight- it looks like the following:

45lbs x 2 x 5 (this is the weight of the bar, don't know how many kg sorry )
[more weight] x 1 x 5
[more weight] x 1 x 3
[almostworkweight] x 1 x 2
[work weight] x 3 x5

So it's getting your body used to the work weight, without using too much energy to keep from doing the work you're supposed to do

@neco and decaf, start doing cleans from the high hang (above mid thigh) This will force you to engage your traps instead of your arms.

There is also flexibility exercises for getting your elbows up neco. Just remember to drive your elbows up at the catch. Fast rack position = better ability to catch heavy weights

So it is good if your traps are really sore after doing cleans? because mine were after Tuesdays workout
