Slow pull works nothing. Pull off the floor the same way every single time. If you are going to work the second pull just go from hang. Hang can be from anywhere(below knee, above knee, below hip) Also try not to throw your head back. Just because dimas does it, it does not mean it is right :D

Yeah your shoulders unlocked during the catch which caused you to move forward and rose onto your toes. Just remember to lock out when catching. Prob because your shoulders are fatigued. haha

You are still cutting your pull a lot in your clean. I would work on power movements right now. So use high hang and power movements for snatch and clean. This will force you to engage your traps and pull as high as possible.

Your speed looks better!!! Just keep working.

Question for you guys. I've started exercising again. I haven't exercised in a long time, I'm grossly inactive. Even my work demands less than a kilometer of walking per day.

I've started doing p90x. I plan on doing it for three months before I start hitting squats, snatches and deadlifts. I think it's a good beginner's program. The main goal for me is to increase my energy levels and alertness. Secondary goal would be to lose 10 pounds in the three months.

A problem I've encountered however is mental fatigue. I've only been exercising for four days and on the first two days I only did 30 minutes of the exercises but I just feel drained. Not in a good way. You know when you only get two hours of sleep and your brain feels like it's been pushed through a strainer? You can't really concentrate. It feels like your senses have been dulled. That's how I've been feeling. I haven't really changed my diet. I've been eating a lot of chili with rice this week.

I don't think I'm amnemic, and I think my thyroid levels are normal. I'll probably go to the doctor's next week to get a battery of tests done if I'm still feeling the same way. But I'm just wondering if some of you guys, who've been really out of shape and inactive have experienced similar mental fatigue in the first few weeks of starting an exercise program.

@energies: where do you get your b12 from? I know the supplments cost a lot.

@shallow bay: my sleep seems pretty regular though I have been waking up a few times during my sleep but nothing that I haven't exeprienced on occasion. As far as supplments I've been taking omega 3 pills 3 times a day. 300 EPA and 200 dha in each pill.

Maybe it's just a shock to my body. Or maybe I'm a little hypoglycemic cause I'm using up way more energy than I'm used to without having adjusted my diet. I'll buy v8 plus tommorow and I'll start eating salads again but I'm sure those will have a minimal impact.

Got a good friend to teach me power cleans today, it was actually much harder than it looked. Took me about an hour to get the forms somewhat correct.

I'm pretty sure I bruised my shoulder and collarbone.

I started weightlifting this week again... I kind of "stopped" when SC2 came out, and now I found out I've lost 20% of all my gains I had about 6 months ago...

I hope I can regain them faster than the first time. I'm following SL 5X5.

About the stretching, should I do it when I work out, after I work out or can I do it whenever I want?

I like to do some before I work out, just something light. Depending how my legs and hips are while squatting I sometimes do some to get a better ROM.

Usually sleep more, or diet is the cause in this. You might not be eating enough foods that are slow to digest, and so you're burning through your energy all in the one workout. It could also just be your body adjusting more slowly than you want it to.

Also, drink more water. I feel that way whenever I'm dehydrated.

Hit the gym for the third time of the new year today. Very exciting to see that, after my reset & break, I'm making faster progress than I was before. Still sore at all times when I'm not lifting, but I don't have a problem with that =p.

Seems to be a trend here, and I'm happy to say that I tried to teach myself power cleans today. I don't have a coach, or even a friend who knows how to do them correctly, so I've just got to go with what I'm feeling. Got a good idea in my head of how to do them... I'll give it another two or three workouts of practice, then take a video.

Yeah i started throwing my head back cause when i started snatching i would duck it down/forward when i went under the bar which messed me up on the overhead squat. I think its giving me a bit of neck pain from over extending it T_T So many things to think about!

And yeah that weight was super light for clean (i should still finish my pull anyways ) I'll keep working from the high hang with some heavier weights and finish my pull. There's a meet in ohio i may or may not go to in january.

On my third clean i finally heard the little "clink" at the second pull. yay!

So you still can pull it high, and ride the weight down when u do regular cleans. Just try to keep it consistent.

yeah!

Good workout yesterday.

Had some "pain" my left shoulder so I kept it easy on the bench. Following are my numbers>

Squat: 3x5 x 105kg
B. Press: 3x5 x 60kg
Deadlift: 1x5 x 125kg

Next week I'm going to drop a bit of weight on the deadlift and start working on my hook grip, I'm sick and fucking tired of not being able to lift more due to my bitch hands and bitchgrip. fuck that, I'm going all in or all out.

edit: btw decaf, you PoS motherfucker get online on MSN, always, motherufahsdiufhasdf FUCK

Between getting my wisdom teeth taken out and coaching wrestling tournaments all weekend, I haven't been able to work out since Tuesday. I can feel myself getting fatter. It is disgusting and I can't wait to get back to the gym.

We are on the same stats now Had to reset some after my accident before christmas.

Why don't you work on your hook grip during the warm up sets? If you are doing them at all I've come to the conclusion that I hate my small hands, I've tried to do a hook grip but it doesn't work

Eshlow/dimsum/anyone else: do you know a way to stretch my upper body for the power cleans? In the vids dimsum posted they only showed how to stretch with the help of a partner :/

Stress levels are the same as before I started exercising. I was hoping that exercise might help lower them. I'm also meditating 30 minutes a day (Have been for a month and a half now) but I'm not sure that has an immediate effect on my stress levels.

Regarding diet, I've been reading a bit on sports nutrition. What a fascinating topic. I probably learned (and forgot) this in highschool phys ed but your main source of energy should be starch. I've been eating a lot of chillie lately. Yesterday I had about 3 servings of chillie (bowl fulls) with a little bit of rice (far less than usual) and I had a few headaches. Beans are high in in fiber but low in starch. So maybe I've been hypoglyemic this entire time. Which I'm prone to if I don't eat enough carbs.

I really need to overhaul my entire diet. Eat more "slow" burning carbs, eat more unsaturated fats with each meal (Probably pop an omega 3 pill during each main meal), limit my saturated fats to 10% or less, stop eating white bread, start eating brown rice, limit the amount of fruits I eat and so on.

I'd like to know what some of your eating habits/philosophies are. What do you eat on a daily basis to sustain your level of energy throughout exercise and throughout the day?
