I really under prepared for video games on this trip. Need more tablet games.
I thought I'd actually start reading books at some point. It's been 6 weeks and I'm only 25% through treasure island. Books are so 90s.
Whenever I get books for a trip I tend to put them off for awhile until one day I snap and read multiple books in a sitting. Its not healthy for my wallet because idk if I should buy one book or ten.
My big watch every anime ever stint was in the 90s and early 2000s.
These days when there's a new anime season I'll cherry pick only 1 or 2 shows to watch. If a moe show is reeeally funny or something (food wars?) I'll watch it, but in general the genre is dumb to me.
Most of my time ATM is spent actually being outside, in general. I just have this problem where suddenly a 10 hour bus ride which leads to hours of shitposting. Should really get my tablet out and finish treasure island.
Speaking of going outside, tomorrow I'm going diving for the first time! Excited.

Then Fire Emblem Fates is the game for you!
Wait was the the Sawashiro. HOooooooooooooooly shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit. What platform is this on?
All hail Sawashiro Miyuki!
If you don't have a 3DS yet, could I recommend you buy one? I also have a lot of Pokemon titles to recommend top.
Yanger and I have spoken about this a lot but basically from what I remember from a few years back Nintendo doesn't have that large a presence here so to get most of the games I actually have to import them. Which kind of makes it a bit harder to justify picking up as Rand is doing shitty atm.
Sawashiro can honestly do one of the sexiest voices in the world. What a woman.
It's a problem when you try to play it on the subway. It's worse when you can sometimes randomly meet a friend/coworker on the subway. Unlike a PC game which can be played in the privacy of my home, I always play handheld games outside and I really don't want to play a weebo game outside.
The deeper reason for anti-fan-service is that I think the game should be more about gameplay and less about the (questionably?) sexual content. I am OK if you make a game out of an existing franchise like Fate/Extra (in fact I think the game has its redeeming values). But the way FE:if did it is very questionable.
Wtf. Sawashiro heathen. Learn your privilege!
Also MB you are missing this RG Eldrazi ramp deck wrecking face at the GP.
Yea it's crazy. Hardly seen it on screen but he finished first position after swiss. Seems to basically ramp and control board until he throws down ulamog and then just wins in 2 attack steps.
edit: Also Ketara I find tablets awful for reading. Don't know if anyone else finds this but paper or e-reader are just far more comfortable. I can maybe do 30 minutes on tablet before it starts feeling bad.
Someone showed me the trailers for two characters. It seemed like "look at how badass this character is!" by twirling and twirling and twirling hitting robots that basically hit one at a time and wait to be destroyed while 20 others sit here looking, and some background music with pseudo-chorus.
I'm a very easy audience when I'm not bitching about details, but I'm just allergic to these, and when a choregraphy seems too tacky/forced to me (see when I said I didn't like the first fight scene between Will and Jack Sparrow), so it didn't work at all. Basically I felt like watching one of the sword fight scenes from Sucker Punch.
Speaking about fights, how's that cutscene you linked for a "fight"? è_ê And I'm curious how they're going to justify having children born then fight alongside their parents this time.

RWBY is kind of like watching an anime version of a Diablo 2 playthrough.

The series in general has always been super anime-influenced, going all the way back to its inception. It's not any more anime now than it was ever before. .
I am not sure if I agree with this.
It is true that the art work of FE has always been very anime-influenced. But the actual gameplay and character settings are fairly tame.
Now you have one anime stereotype of everything in the game.

i think it goes a little bit deeper. given the role of the fire emblem object in some of the games like sacred stones, how you get stuff like the laguz race, and a lot of the character tropes remind me more of anime characters than the rest of nintendo franchises

Again, that's largely because anime as a whole has become more cliche and trope-y over time as well.
Just compare the respective tone of Akaneia to DBZ, Jugdral to LoGH, and then Elibe/Magvel to FMA, and it becomes clear how the tone of the games evolved in line with the anime of the time.
Awakening and Fates aren't shallow and trope-y because they're more like anime than their predecessors, they're shallow and trope-y because modern moeblob anime is shallow and trope-y.

That just seems so suboptimal in a world where stasis snares and abzan charms exist.

I'll take a step back and stick with your argument for now on the evolution of anime, then there is no excuse to stick with the anime stereotypes even if they found success with them in the past. Also, whatever happened to anime during the last 10-20 years does not render my criticism on FE:if invalid.
I watched something called Gargantia on the Verduous Planet or something like that a little while ago. I thought it was pretty decent. Art was pretty Miyazaki-ish

Well seeing as Awakening basically rescued the series from the brink of ending, IS probably disagrees. It's not a strange opinion to have that game developers pandering to a wider audience dilutes the experience for series veterans, though. That's pretty common.
Though FE already kinda went through this once already when they let Shouzou Kaga go after FE5 and the gameplay concepts in Binding Blade were just watered down versions of those in Thracia. Hell, I'm pretty sure people back then felt that Roy was a cliche and trope-y shonen anime hero compared to the protagonists of Jugdral as well (given that was the era of stuff like FMA, One Piece, and Naruto).
Roy's probably the shittiest lord in the series though, both as a unit, and as a character.

Well he's sitting in semi-finals and there's only 1 abzan deck in top 8 which already lost I think. Seems he's running Ugin and Red removal. Important to note that ulamog exiles on cast and not on resolving so he always gets that off. Also he can keep bouncing ulamog back it looks like.
Oh I forgot I saw a hangarback last game.
edit: He lost 1-2 in the semis vs Dark Jeksai. Looks like it's 3 Dark Jeksai in the top 4

Man, food wars is awesome.
50 seasons of Mushishi, 50 0079 sidestories, and the occasional Food Wars/Kill La Kill.
