Sidereal shenanigans and the Fey OVERALL are fantastic. Yeeeeeessss best fey and stunting is basically the perfect tabletop rpg rule. I probably employ it in more situations than I should (ex// if someone has to look up the rules for a spell or something then w/e just stunt it fuck the books). On October 22 2015 22:35 Seuss wrote: Oh hey 2nd Edition is still current, though apparently not for long because Kickstarter. And yeah, stunting in Exalted is awesome. It's still current until 3E comes out, yeah. 3E is like 2 years behind schedule though or something? I got my kickstarter official pdf today actually. Also there was a leak a while back (you can find a permalink through an archived 7chan thread iirc) with basically the full rules. Would be fine with using 2E or 3E and I'm pro-homebrew anything. On October 22 2015 22:48 Seuss wrote: Exalted is great because the creators decided that it would be nice if there were actually codified systems to support, encourage, and reward role-playing. It also has a very, very rich and awesome setting. yyyeeeessss on all accounts. Fuck I love this game. Although conversely most of it's problems stem from a lot of the systems not actually work they way they wanted them too (ex combat takes forever and does not match the fast paced action narratives the players are describing). 3E combat is... different. It's kind of like Dissidia: Final Fantasy? Not sure if it's actually much simpler overall, but it's much simpler in some ways (d&d style turns now instead of ticks) and it seems faster. I can do a write-up about it if you're interested. Technically "appearance" is a stat you don't have to put a lot of ranks into but everyone does obvs. On October 23 2015 00:54 Scip wrote: could I do all sports, like Judo, with contact lenses? if so, any tips regarding those? They can be knocked out (I did this to someone in rugby once, which was an issue because they couldn't find the lens in a grassy field), but generally shouldn't be too dangerous aside from liquid issues (As req said). I don't wear contact lenses or glasses, but I know people who do wear contacts during Judo sessions and they seem fine although they may have stories that I haven't asked about. content warning: srs busines + Show Spoiler + On October 22 2015 23:35 Zdrastochye wrote: True enough, it really comes down to the person hearing the term and being offended. There are plenty of people who are offended by way too much, and sadly in US culture there's now plenty of support for anyone who feels "abused" by a word to speak out against it and have people respect that. Behind it all there just needs to be a modicum of respect for your fellow humans, and part of that is not trying to intentionally piss someone off. If you say something that someone takes offense to, don't get defensive and try to argue why the term shouldn't be taken offensively by that person and instead just apologize and remove yourself from that situation with said person. Politics of respectability is half the issue. The other side is when things actually hurt people in physical ways, rather than merely offending them (ex// more likely to be harassed, less likely to be employed, when government gets involved, etc.). Personally I don't care too much about cases that are merely about someone being offended, although many people posting here obviously aren't super up to date on things like microagressions and how they build towards real issues, and it's certainly not intuitive or visibly obvious in many cases (less so than say blue/red side advantage in league, which we know from experience some people can't comprehend).

Imprimis Pharmaceuticals is the company that today has released a super affordable ($1) alternative to the medicine that Turing Pharma jacked up recently. It also appears that Imprimis is doing this for other medications as well. Their current stock price (IMMY) is just shy of $6. Worth?

That's really what I wish I did, because that's what my job is moving towards. That and GIS, cuz we're implementing geotagging for our reporting platform with mapping shiz. That and visualizations. But it's been slow going cuz we have a massive patch soon. On October 23 2015 07:14 Redox wrote: All of what you just told us is part of the market price. Damn they really stepped up in the art/fluff combos. The intro story is wicked hype even though I already read it once in plain text when it first leaked. Flipping through a bunch of the others and it seems solid. The exigent one is SiiiiiiiCK. Character sheet is weak, but there'll be better online editable ones soon enough. Lots of minor errors (hyphens and quotation marks in random places), but this is just the final draft and they're getting public input on it before publishing and adding the index/bookmarks and such. The backgroud images don't line up properly either for the first half of the book. It's like they accidentally added a page somewhere, and then at some point accidentally added a second one that made the second half right.

On October 23 2015 05:48 Seuss wrote: Short answer: Yes, programming (especially good programming) is hard, unintuitive for most, and difficult to teach. If it was easy you and I would be earning minimum wage. Long answer: Story time. Freshman year a friend of mine who was also a CS major called me up for some help. I was effectively a year ahead of him due to AP courses and such so we weren't in the same classes, so I saw no issue giving him a little help. His homework assignment was to take X/Y inputs from a couple of fields on a webpage and draw a rectangle when a button was pressed, and he was having trouble. After a minute or so I realized the problem was that he didn't understand parameters. I spent 4 hours teaching him what the hell a parameter was. He simply could not make the connection that the values he was retrieving from the inputs could be saved to variables and/or passed into a function. He kept hard coding numbers into his function for drawing the rectangle. I tried everything. Explaining the concept failed. Demonstrating the concept failed. Walking him through the solution failed. Metaphors, analogies, examples, and anything else I could think of failed. I don't even remember what eventually did the trick I was too busy being grateful it was over. He simply needed a mental bulldozer to break through one of the simplest and most basic aspects of programming. Why was someone like that a CS major? He liked computers so he thought it might be nice. Basically any 101 course for programming is primarily made up of people who like computers and don't realize that programming is way, way different from browsing the web. You also have people like Gahlo who vastly outskill the course and people who will actually learn a lot from it and do well, but most introductory courses are filled with people who think programmers smash their keyboards for a few minutes and then play video games all day. to be honest i think at that point it is the profs fault. it took me 3 different professors before i felt like i understood and could write recursive functions. the hardest part of my cs degree so far(3rd year) has been the math requirements and the computer architecture class. the programming itself has been the easiest bar far. Low Priority games now have to be won in order to count. Fixed a bug that could cause periodic hitching. The number of Low Priority games needed to complete has been reduced. http://www.dota2.com/news/updates/ I love this approach, let's put all the raging assholes together and force them to work together to get out, if they cant, LMFaO wHO caREs hAhA xD
