That's most certainly exactly how you're supposed to protect your ADC in a teamfight as the tank...
The only way that would be wrong is if your ADC is fucking terrible and runs for the hills even though you're protecting them.
I don't think it needs mentioning that you preferably try to get out alive with as low health as possible, rather than dying.

I LOST IT TODAY.
I HAD FUCKING MORONIC ANNIE, WHO I GUESS FOR PURPOSE PLAYED LIKE A SHIT (I TOOK JUNGLE AND SHE REALLY INSISTED TO GO THERE). NEVER BEFORE I SPEW SO MUCH HATE THROUGH GAME CHAT.
WHY ARE THERE SO MANY FUCKING IDIOTS IN THIS GAME?

Riot has decided the headset wire CC into rum spill combo lacks counterplay. Needs more interactive synergistic play patterns to avoid "stat check" win conditions. This is all accomplished by changing ability to a skillshot. GG headset, you are now riot approved until you get reworked in three months.

The only thing you can really do in that situation is to control the side lane waves so that both are pushing against, that way when Zed pushes one, the other one automatically slowly pushes their way. Nunu can also just walk over and ult the wave to reset Zed's push, then force him to the other lane.
Not to nitpick, you guys weren't 12-1 ahead, it was 12-6 which is still a significant lead. Unfortunately, a lot of the gold was on you, and Nunu isn't the best at carrying and you begin to fall off around 20 minutes when everyone beefs up. Still, up to 24 minutes when Fid finished Hourglass (and when Mao's RoA finished stacking) you guys were definitely much much stronger.
In a 4v5, you have to win fast as possible, which means kicking down their towers as fast as you can. It's totally cliche, but the best defense is offense, and if you're at a 4v5 disadvantage you gotta keep momentum going. From the 12-6 at 16:00 minutes to the 24 minute point, you guys did almost nothing (idk, map movement or what). A tower fell to a minion at 18, but that was about it. From the summary, it looks like you just wandered around and farmed (and by extension, let them farm) until they were stronger.
The best strategy in that situation is to just go mid and shove. Ez + Ori chunk towers and have great poke. Ori + Nunu ults are amazing fuck off tools. Thresh hooks give you a good chance to engage.
That's my 2cents based on the match data, could be missing something though.

0-6 losing streak down to Gold5.
Lost games where I was 14-6-10 but couldn't carry because my bot lane had a combined score of 0-12 or some shit. League hates me tonight. Also lost 2 games because of a single person who afk'd in 2 of my games in a row because he was a child and got mad the second someone got mad at him.
Can't even get my wotd bonus IP now. I honestly probably did bad in maybe 1-2 of those games, either I got outplayed or was on tilt from my team. The other 4? I was beating my lane hard and drawing pressure or roaming their jungle for kills like I'm supposed to do.
This game pisses me off like no other because it seems like no one gets punished for afking/feeding on purpose except for the people on their team eating that elo loss. And then when people do badly they always blame others and won't correct their mistakes. STOP RUNNING INTO THEIR TERRITORY WHEN 5 MIA.
I could honestly type for half an hour with the amount of hate running through my veins for the teammates I got tonight. Not a single person won a single lane in a combined 6 games tonight, how is that even fucking mathematically possible for one? Every single person left lane with a feeding score and then proceeded to get caught all game and die and make the lane I was winning pointless.

I know there is a theory that says you should carry every single game in every possible scenario, and that allies do not matter, etc., but frankly you can't really blame someone for losing a 4v5. The best advice I'd give to someone who loses because of a disconnected ally is "better luck next time".
Even when I do win 4v5s (which happened a few times) I don't feel good about it because that is not what I signed up for. I just want 5 guys against 5 guys and in every scenario that isn't 5v5 the entity that should take blame is Riot, not the guy who couldn't carry 4v5. 4v5s are dirty and should not exist.

League of Legends' flagship Field of Justice, Summoner's Rift, remains the battleground of choice for the majority of players. Two teams of five champions battle across three lanes and an expansive jungle that holds powerful buffs and major neutral objectives. An extended laning phase and large-scale team fights are characteristic of this battlefield.
- Leagueoflegends.com, Description of Summoner's Rift I don't consider that I played a LoL game when I play anything that is not 5v5. The very fact that two teams of five people go against each other is part of the rules on Summoner's Rift. Unfortunately Riot's servers, client, and afk detection system are not good enough to make sure that this fundamental rule is respected, which is an absolute shame in my opinion.
Legit QQ here I can't stand non-5v5s, even a 5v4 in my favor makes me want to afk.

I mean it's hard as heck to win a 4v5, but there's still good ways to try and win. Just saying there was another way to try and play it out that might have been more effective than what the match data suggested. If your attitude is really 4v5 sucks this isn't what I signed up for, just AFK or ff20.
It's absolutely heartbreaking when you lose a 4v5 where you're doing really well for a long time. I remember a game where I was support Lux, got fed as fuck and ended up carrying team (forget who DC'd) and had like 700+ AP. The amount of shield I threw ut was basically giving us the EHP of 5 people. We took one bad fight like 40-50 minutes in and then lost because of it. Still, it didn't feel too bad since I knew I played very well for so long at a big disadvantage.

One of my favourite things to do when I have a shitty ADC is go top around level 3-4 if our lane is pushing, and sneak through the side bushes for a lane gank. It has a pretty high reward rate and usually my AD is too busy crying under our turret to feed.

Yeah, except that you actually lose LP because of that match that doesn't even correspond to the basic rules of Summoner's Rift ("two teams of five champions...") Now let's be real everyone plays ranked because deep inside is the thirst for LP, the univeral thirst. That's why I actually try my hardest even in a 4v5, in case my opponents would actually be retarded enough to throw their free win away.
Still sucks, and I still don't consider myself responsible for a loss when I lose a 4v5, or responsible for my victory when I win a 5v4.
If it's in a normal though, be it 5v4 or 4v5, I will absolutely troll for the whole game. There will probably be salt kings to report me afterwards but I don't care because I'm not toxic in chat so I'm pretty much safe from any punishment by Riot.

this is more hilarious than ragey but still worth sharing. I had a game with a corki in it who told me corki was useless in arams and that I needed to play more (I have over 400 wins in ARAMS.) what makes it great is how horrible his build was his build was, well I'll just show you. also I hate playing gnar, made 0 sense.
(he sold the tear before buying the phantom dance then I think he sold that for a brut then sold that for the IE

Speaking of 4v5s. In my last two ranked losses, there was : - One game where our entire team just disconnected at one point in the game and reconnected 5 minutes later to agree to surrender. - One game where our support left the game for ten minutes because of "his parents".
Yeah, I guess I really don't deserve Plat III promos then. My individual skill isn't on par, as my recent defeats can prove it. Fuck you Riot. Go suck a giant cock with your rotten servers and forcing LP losses on people playing with a handicap.
Edit : added "giant". They can suck a giant cock and choke on it. I'll pick up the LP they owe me on their corpse.

RedditLFG groups can be really cancer... I had someone instalock Nunu jungle and then build magus / mobi boots / the spellvamp gun thing, all while running into the enemy at every possible opportunity and going like 0/10.
Most of the time I just played Gragas and won though since Gragas is very balanced.

I got a bunch of cringey players who walked to mid, then just had a summoner burnoff party while spamming laugh and suiciding into the enemy tower. I guess they were mimicking streamers or something, I dunno. Full of all chat written in that stupid stereotypical streamer style. It was pretty dumb.
