And this tournament is triple elim lol Meh, maybe the army practice is catching up to him. The last tourney was a miracle tbh. But... I'd be foolish to actually doubt Serral. Do we really have to bring the army thing in every time he loses as an excuse? He lost to Clem at Atlanta too and DH Dallas was one of his most dominant tourneys ever. He gets tons of time off to practice and there's zero indication his form has dropped at all Not as often as people making all the excuses for Maru when he lost outside of Korea. Jet lag / saving builds/ didn’t take seriously/ not in form/ not caring / Zerg Imba, etc At least Serral army thing is actually a REAL thing. Unlike all the phantom excuses people give to Maru when he gets stomped his shoulder injury that had doctors telling him to stop playing isn't a real thing? And where did I mention or discredit injury was an invalid excuse? The excuses I listed were all the common excuses we hear each and every time Maru loses outside of Korea. How many times have we all witness his fanboys claim When he wins, maru is godlike or best in the world But when he loses, the salty tears and excuses comes out in full force You can’t have it both ways. I mean maru lost too and you don't see anyone making excuses here. Only excuses I see are from serral fans but w.e Nah folks have only made excuses for like 6/7 years… That aside, bloody impressive showing from Clem Fine I'll bite, the jet lag issue was meme that people used to make fun of maru, not something not maru fans brought up. In the 6 or 7 years at several points zerg had objectively been busted, which even zerg fans have acknowledged after the fact. What's the next supposed excuse: his body? Yeah well when they guy literally had to go to the doctor for help I'd imagine people are justified in bringing that up. Again I repeat, in this tournament the maru "excuses" have been very light, whereas as soon as serral loses the excuses fly. There’s barely anyone making excuses for Serral in this thread though? Well we are already getting "military service" and "he's sick" coming in. How are you sorting excuses out?
Good excuses: Wrist/shoulder injuries Military service "Wasn't in peak form yet"
Bad excuses: Jet Lag "Online doesn't count" Saving builds Sickness "Zerg imba"

There was a thread few months ago about the double elimination format where i expressed my opinion heavily, why i dislike double elim. My opinion haven't changed. While for certain, double elim format results in more matches, which many of us certainly enjoys, it eliminates the suprise, the upset from tournaments. In a non double elim tournament Maru and Serral would be knocked out by now by Clem and Dark. They absolutely played well, they played their hearts out, they came up with good strategies and executions. They deserved their win. But with this format Serral and Maru can just look back the replays, and adjust their gameplay while they still have 2 lives left. I honestly does not see any of them not reaching the final four. Where they will have pretty good chances to play the finals despite their losses from yesterday and based on their replays they can just brainstorm and plug their holes. In a non double elim format they could still do it,yes. In the next tournament ...

Reynor looking very sharp today.
Maybe I shouldn't say today given the challenge he gave Clem too.
Big comeback needed from Solar

Hmm solar played well but just seemed to not be up to par on mechanics, way too often he was just getting caught and move commanded stuff it felt like.

Will we get another classic Serral vs Reynor ZvZ banger? Edit: Clem and Reynor trying to snipe Serral. Not cool 😄

Solar made his run in ZvZ last year thanks to smart build choice and cutting corner, but people has figured him out and his control isnt as great as the other top players.

Who is Team Falcon? Sure, the rest of the top 10 looks competitive, but seems they have 1st place entirely sewn up. Good to see TL going strong as the best of the rest!

It is a Saudi Esports Organization having teams in multiple games (Apex Legends, Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, FIFA / EA Sports FC, Overwatch, PUBG, Rocket League, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, and Valorant.). It is possible that they amassed their points simply through quantity, even if they "only" get 3-5th place in many games, they have an inherent advantage over organizations that only focus on one game. I didn't confirm this theory though.

If you don't focus on the few (was it 1 or 2?) posters who looked for explanations why the Immortal Demon Lord got his ass kicked 0:3 after having another ridiculous winning streak and having only dropped 3 (?) maps in the last 2 tournaments, your forum experience will skyrocket, I promise!

Everyone but Dark and Clem would be eliminated already…
Showtime and SHIN wouldn’t even have played a game.
What a terrible tournament that would be. You can’t even draw any conclusions from current results as players play differently if they know they have three lives (like they do here). They are more likely to save builds and take greater risks. The matches very likely play out differently.
While the group stage is in a bracket format, it is still the group stage. The matches so far are equivalent to the group stage of the World Cup or the regular season of the NFL. Everyone battles for placement and once you get to the knockout bracket (the next stage), it is one and done. Quick example - Argentina lost to Saudi Arabia in 2022 and went on to win the World Cup. Essentially this group stage looks different, but it’s meant to accomplish the same thing. Seed players for the knockouts.

Am I not understanding or where's Ragnarok aka Shin in main event, didn't see him on bracket despite liquipedia telling he's qualified? Also no Showtime although they both say qualified to main from qualifiers.

He and Showtime start in the knockout bracket, so you won’t see them until tomorrow.

Oh, that's very interesting approach to bracket, don't remember this kind of format before. Thanks for clearing out.

God herO is just the best player to watch of all time.

I actually like this format a lot, it gives everyone (except maybe Shin and Showtime) a few fair shots to qualify to top 4, and at the same time we're (almost) guaranteed a top 4 who have all beaten top players in their path.

Reynor seems to be in shape holy cow

I'm actually a huge fan too.

herO doing his best Shield of Aiur impression in this fourth game.
EDIT:
And just as I type that, he gets caught out of position lmao...

I wish Cure did things in tournaments besides beat my favorite protoss players
