It was exciting and had very high level play. But trench wars get boring. I don't really blame poopi for disliking that game. Especially as it was the second trench war in the series (3rd if you count game 3, although that was less grueling).

Dark didn't jump the gun lol, by the time he made the hail mary play for the bottom right he was pretty much dead. to win he would have had to focus a lot more resources on the bottom right earlier in the game, either to take it himself or at the very least never let Reynor consistently mine from there. he lost bc he played overly passive in a maximally defensive stance expecting Reynor to attack into him.

Abduct + static defense is pretty lame. To be honest in general abduct is probably the ability is despise the most. If we ever got a new sc2 patch, please completely rework this ability.
While I am not the biggest fan of TvT either, at least inference Matrix has a bit more counter-play.

Not only because it contains 200% the average amount of Terran. You can't just walk away from watching Shine vs. Canata without serious psychological scars.

yeah idk what ppl are talking about, that was a great game. constant action and lots of interesting strategic things happening and everything on the line and the big basic question "how will this scenario go this time?".
obv if you were cheering hard for Dark it's very understandable to be upset, but that's a different question

At one point we saw Dark being behind by around 4K in losses. That was before he then lost his hydras + a few bad other trades. If i had to guess his net loss would be at like -10K when he switched bases.
Further, he couldn't mine from his geyser in that position and was behind 1 base on top of that. He had invested much more into static defense but still was getting outtraded and not gaining any position. Overall, he was effectively dead at that point in time bar any major screw up from reynor.
Switching bases put him in a better position, however he then kept losing the viper wars by a large margin to reynor after not having the security of his static defense. He made a mistake of not transfering the spores as well. They just died for nothing and without them he got outmicroed.
This series imo made reynor look like someone that was noticeably better mechanically as reynor simply traded much better throughout the series when army compositions were comparable on neutral ground.

Yeah Demuslim has been great this tournament, going to AoE probably help him not get tilted by his own terran games and just enjoy sc2 more I think

I think there was one passage of play where Dark was individually unburrowing lurkers and moving and reburrowing almost instantly and I was like, ok yeah we’re in for a high level game here. As an individual feat plenty of players can do such things, but Dark was doing all the other things near flawlessly too.
High level games, especially if both players are playing out of their mind aren’t always the most entertaining, but they’re fascinating and awe-inspiring for us plebs.
Speaking of, I mean I loved the Spirit/Nice series precisely because it was such a sloppy clown fiesta.
Any other clown fiesta series from Katowice recommended folks?

Well he is one of the best players in the world to be fair
And yeah frequently the foreign bias is insufferable, but that particular cast specifically they were also praising Dark to the heavens so I don’t think it’s a great example of the phenomenon at all.
HM usually gets the worst of all of the foreign bias for my sensibilities, hopefully Harstem and Rotti can avoid that next series
