480k to 430k. Not nice to see, I wonder if this is Afreeca reprioritizing or if the Blizzard deal always included a gradual decrease in prize pool funding.
Why do you think afreeca will be funding it themselves?

To be fair 30k in total are cut through the format change because there's 4 less players in every season of GSL and that's pretty legitimate. And we have no announcement from ESL yet either, that might well cover the rest.

Was listening to the Chinese SC2 cast. The casters usually have quite a bit of behind the scenes info. They talked about Afreeca providing the prize pool next year instead of Blizzard.

Okay, that seems strange considering they signed a multi-year deal with blizzard. Thanks for the info though.

Wasn't 2020/2021 supposed to be a "special year with higher funding" anyway because of the 10 year anniversary? Because I always had this in the back of my head - whether true or not - I was even surprised that the prize pool is still almost as high as before.

GSL gets 3000 Korean viewers average on afreeca.
Blizzard is surely footing a huge part of the bill
Since they're using the Code A name, they could've included more players without diluting the Code S name
Really would've liked to see Code A be 32 players
And I still think top 8 staying in Code S is too much, the first round of Code S is the round of 16, which means half of the round of 16 will be seeded players

But that's not what's happening? That's not how Tastosis explained it anyway. What they said was top 4 from the Super Tournament and top 4 from the GSL qualifiers are straight into Code S and then also 8 people from Code A. And after a season of Code S is done there's another Super Tournament and this process repeats. Nobody is seeded from Code S to Code S.
32 player Code A would just be depressing to watch because the Korean pro scene is so shallow. Most people at that point would probably qualify for Code A without having to play a match in the bracket.

Oh ok, I guess I'll have to see what the format of the qualifiers is. Still I'd like to see players that have been playing in the qualifiers like Creator, Prince, Bomber, Coca, Curious, Taeja, ForGG... And the qualifiers aren't broadcast, so I would've liked to see them in Code A
+1 armor from the accidental double forge I think made the difference in retaining army supply advantage for Trap in the second part of that main engagement in g7. o_O
