I'm not sure that Stats was actually trying to confuse Rogue or that Rogue was confused. I think 2 SG voids basically is just as good as 3 SG voids if you're able to defend a roach attack and Stats was.
I mean showtime on his stream had said for weeks that 2sg void is better than 3sg void (and played the 2sg version) so I'd not label it as stats version.
I would probably advise Stats not to go with builds that include glaives. It's a detour into unnecessary tech and invites a longer game where Rogue can get into 90 drones and lurker/viper.

So far I think the protoss are just straight playing better than their opponents. Will be nice to finally have a toss champion again (hope i didn't jinx it now )
This game 7 is either the passing of the torch (because Stats probably won't be able to play another GSL event before military) or Stats taking the torch with him forever
I remember the supertournament with sOs 3-0 Classic in the finals, Artosis cursed with all his might: "no one can 4-0 sOs!" And we remember how it went.
This time: "Trap will get 4-0, he simply cannot lose!" -> 3-3 now. The 'tosis curse is still so real.

And he said stats would win before the series started. He only reversed his curse when Trap was up 3-0 and only had to a-move half decently for the sweep.

I'm a PvP noob, but to be honest, I don't see how trap had the advantage in that attack in game 4
On one side was a bunch of stats' stalkers + shield batteries
On the other side was a horde of stats' chargelots
and all trap had was a globe of stalker immortal. aka the worst comp to be flanked
I don't think forcefielding the zealots instead of stalkers wouldve helped. Stalker Immortal just trades so badly vs chargelots, and the super charge wouldve bought time
Amazing, I'm glad for Trap! It would have been so heartbreaking to see him getting reverse swept and losing his seventh consecutive Premier final. Trap deserved this victory so much!
It would also be great to see Stats win before the army calls him, he is on a kongish streak in the last two years(1-6).
Gotta say I expected something like this. There would just be too many weak players in a 28 player league. This way, the first round should be roughly as strong as the one this year

Welcome back, Super Protoss Tournament!
do we know if stats is allowed to play IEM?
Last I heard even Stats doesn't really know when he has to go to the military yet exactly. Even though he's older than soO.

I think it's a bit worse, 16 players in Code A + 8 seeded Code S players means we get 24 players instead of 28, I understand there's gonna be less players because of military service, but I would've liked a bigger Code A to act as like broadcasted qualifiers at least
Code A is single elimination instead of group stages so luck of the draw can be a big factor, top 8 players in Code S can easily retain their seed which was a problem back in like 2011

Top 8 players easily staying in Code S is not going to be a problem today, they already did so this year. The only top 8 players who didn't make ro16 next season were Dear (season 1->2) and sOs if you count ST1-> season 1. In 2011 you had a bunch of top tier players who were very similar in skill, that's just not the case today, at least not to the same extent. The field is much more stratified because there just aren't as many pros

There's no point in making Code A much bigger because there's just such a big disparity between pros and whoever else signs up and it'll just be stomps nobody watches.
Also the fact that everyone who doesn't get top 4 in the Super Tournaments has to re-earn their spot in Code S every season is neat imo.

Congratulations, protoss, congratulations... HOWEVER, now that you've had your share of the spotlight it is now time to go back to irrelevancy for at least six months. See you then.

480k to 430k. Not nice to see, I wonder if this is Afreeca reprioritizing or if the Blizzard deal always included a gradual decrease in prize pool funding.
Why do you think afreeca will be funding it themselves?

To be fair 30k in total are cut through the format change because there's 4 less players in every season of GSL and that's pretty legitimate. And we have no announcement from ESL yet either, that might well cover the rest.

Was listening to the Chinese SC2 cast. The casters usually have quite a bit of behind the scenes info. They talked about Afreeca providing the prize pool next year instead of Blizzard.

Okay, that seems strange considering they signed a multi-year deal with blizzard. Thanks for the info though.

Wasn't 2020/2021 supposed to be a "special year with higher funding" anyway because of the 10 year anniversary? Because I always had this in the back of my head - whether true or not - I was even surprised that the prize pool is still almost as high as before.

GSL gets 3000 Korean viewers average on afreeca.
Blizzard is surely footing a huge part of the bill
Since they're using the Code A name, they could've included more players without diluting the Code S name
Really would've liked to see Code A be 32 players
And I still think top 8 staying in Code S is too much, the first round of Code S is the round of 16, which means half of the round of 16 will be seeded players

But that's not what's happening? That's not how Tastosis explained it anyway. What they said was top 4 from the Super Tournament and top 4 from the GSL qualifiers are straight into Code S and then also 8 people from Code A. And after a season of Code S is done there's another Super Tournament and this process repeats. Nobody is seeded from Code S to Code S.
32 player Code A would just be depressing to watch because the Korean pro scene is so shallow. Most people at that point would probably qualify for Code A without having to play a match in the bracket.

Oh ok, I guess I'll have to see what the format of the qualifiers is. Still I'd like to see players that have been playing in the qualifiers like Creator, Prince, Bomber, Coca, Curious, Taeja, ForGG... And the qualifiers aren't broadcast, so I would've liked to see them in Code A
+1 armor from the accidental double forge I think made the difference in retaining army supply advantage for Trap in the second part of that main engagement in g7. o_O
