I know Bbyong's upgrades were a bit late due to the late armory, but did he reach 2/2 at any point in that game? he was 2/2 right before he lost his 4th.

He shouldn't make too many tanks but having 2-3 early game is great imo. It seems suuuuuuuper map dependent. Like, Deadwing has a lot of pretty decent siege spots, and overgrowth obviously has that siege up on the nat. I'm sure the other maps have one or two decent spots too but it definitely does not seem like something you want to be doing on every map.

Bbyong's great defense against the blink stalkers, the individual unit control from herO, the basetradey situations. It was really action packed and exciting in my eyes.

Tanks are definitely a unit whose effectiveness depends on the map and where they are actually placed, much more than most other units.

Which is fine if you're playing mech or you can set up positions if you have positional advantage, but in skirmish PvT what essentially happens is you have 4 sets of units with 4 different movement speeds. You have the bio/bio on stim, medivacs, vikings and tanks. Theoretically a player could be able to set them up on 4 hot keys to perfectly micro each unit, but in practice (like most players) set it up on one hotkey then use the mouse to control individuals sets of units. So by including tanks into your comp microing an already hard to micro army just gets that much harder. Combined with the tanks brittleness, lack of mobility, gas cost, supply count and need to target fire on collosus just makes tank comps not worth the effort for most players. Additionally going bio tank is very anti-synergistic. The upgrades are split, the medivacs don't help the tanks during big battles, the bio wants to kite back while the tanks want the bio to hold the line and buffer, allowing them to shell the opponent. Getting good compositions and engagement is very difficult and sometimes not possible. Tank play will only really be possible against Protoss if Terran gets a unit that results in Protoss wanting to kite back and maintain range as well as buffering for tanks. I think such a unit would break bio though.
