herO's army control was insanely good, but I'm just wondering if there's enough gas as a 3 base Terran to make enough Tanks and Vikings to make a strat like that work AND have even closer upgrades. I know Bbyong's upgrades were a bit late due to the late armory, but did he reach 2/2 at any point in that game? | ||

I think the insufficient air is an indirect consequence of building a bio-tank army. Balancing the numbers of bio as buffer, the amount of medivacs, the amount of tanks, and the number of vikings is very difficult. Also tanks aren't particularly good against any protoss unit really. | ||

I don't think he ever got 2/2, but if you're able to maintain your medivac count and not lose vikings you can afford it, but its reallllly hard. | ||

One of the many many fundamental problems with tanks is that they're movement speed is slow. Which is fine if you're playing mech or you can set up positions if you have positional advantage, but in skirmish PvT what essentially happens is you have 4 sets of units with 4 different movement speeds. You have the bio/bio on stim, medivacs, vikings and tanks. Theoretically a player could be able to set them up on 4 hot keys to perfectly micro each unit, but in practice (like most players) set it up on one hotkey then use the mouse to control individuals sets of units. So by including tanks into your comp microing an already hard to micro army just gets that much harder. Combined with the tanks brittleness, lack of mobility, gas cost, supply count and need to target fire on collosus just makes tank comps not worth the effort for most players. | ||
