Proud of him being too weak to compete in KR?

Koreans must be banned in EE and NA regionals. It's not interesting to watch, you know that no matter what, koreans will win. korean vs korean finals, woohoo, so much fun, especially when they come to EU and have guts to not even learn english

really? He played fair throughout the whole tourney. Grubby came close to winning against him but messed up the final game. There is no reason that foreigners can't win against Koreans so saying that you know koreans will win is definitely not true.

Yes, really, he's korean, he must play in his region, not in EU. Hell, he doesn't even know english. SO much for EU champ lol.

Blizzard's rules. I for one am glad that he came to EU and ended up winning. I could careless if he can't even speak. Region isn't locked, so he's allowed to come here. Grubby lost which is disappointing but making the RO4, losing to the champ and going to the WCS finals is an amazing achievements. Looking forward to seeing him improve some more.

Are you blind or something? koreans are FLOODING EU and NA tournaments. They win everything, they halt EU and NA progress in sc2, they halt new EU and NA stars development. It;s one of the reasons LoL and DOTA are so much popular, it's just not interesting to watch tournaments, knowing that (insert random korean pro) will win the tournament.

lol. I'm well aware of the number of Koreans that are coming to EU and NA tournaments. No, they don't halt the progress. If anything, pros are forced to work harder to compete with them to get a higher ranking, win the tourney etc... Look at grubby. Made RO4 and his play has improved so much from the last RO16 finish. He has the kind of mentality that a lot of people and seems like fan lack. The feeling that I need to be the best. Need to improve, practice more, think more, etc...

User was warned for this post

wait, why did I get warned for this? :S Finals are over and I'm just replying to a post, not complaining like what the mod note said

ps everyone else is still discussing it as well :/ my first warning :/

What fucking progress. NA and EU are miles behind because they don't do teamhouses, don't have designated coaches (not everyone at least), don't have practice partners whenever they want etc. They have created styles, sure. They have innovated on many strategical points in the game, but NA and EU have to work for success. I for one love the fact that we don't have segregation like LoL. Watching competition that is pampered in that way is no fun. If Europeans and Americans want to persevere, let them work for their fruits and so when they finally, win, they cry like duckdeok. That way, they are actually proud of their win.
You dont understand basic economic incentives if you think Korea flooding NA/EU tournaments will do anything but wipe out that population of progamers, which will have the associated effect of making SC2 less popular in those regions. You also dont understand anything about economics if you think Korea doing anything but flooding the scene wasnt self evident and a product of economics itself. EU/NA players get ragged on simplistically for being worse as a product of laziness or something ridiculous, and its not the reason at all that they're behind, its at best a proximate cause.

If it is not one of the reasons, what is it then? Koreans don't have an inherent skill of being the best at everything. They sacrifice. Blood and tears are shed. Look at duckdeok. His shit has finally paid off. I know this is bad for the EU scene because it might demotivate people, but if it demotivates you, YOU ARE NO CHAMPION. There are European and North American players that cause upsets all the time. THEY will become champions then.

There is an inflation of Koreans and we should adopt them. Plain and simple. Asking them to retire by restricting them to a region that is as hard as that one IF they can play in an other region causes the skill of NA and EU to go down. Do you get me?

Im sorry to say this but Duck winning is the worst thing that could have happened to SC2. Any other player in the bracket would have been better for the tournament.
I dont feel that anything can push SC2 back on the path of growth right now, just too few competent businessmen in the scene

It's going to be casted by the excellent JWitz so it should be pretty fun to watch really. I'd even skip some of the TI3 for it.

Wow this is basically the worst case scenario for WCS EU:

1. PvP all around
2. Koreans finals, of course
3. Underdog wins in coinflippy matchup against huge fan favourite
the game is the game

The same old story for 2 years now. EU/NA players just have to step up and everything is fine. WAKE UP, that is not going to happen!
Right now we are at a point where we have come to a pragmatic decision. Do we want SC2 to grow (if it isnt too late already) or do we want to keep believing in an utopia?

HOW CAN THESE BE ON AT THE SAME TIME?! THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!!

Seriously though, I've never played Pokemon-TCG or Yugi-Oh so I have no idea what's going on. I honestly haven't played the pokemon video games that much (and not at all since Sapphire/Ruby) either and I liked the finals anyways (although they should obviously be bo7, wtf arrangers )

Complain to Blizzard. I'm sure they'll care.

They probably will notice the huge drop off in viewing numbers compared to last season, and last years WCS EU finals. They are supposed to be making decisons that grow the scene not diminish it.

Decisions like scheduling all WCS regional finals on the same weekend during TI3 finals.

Exactly. When Blizzard makes decisions that result in a reduction of viewers, then they should be called out on it. If the viewers go down, then they need to notice and address the reasons behind this.

The same old story for 2 years now. EU/NA players just have to step up and everything is fine. WAKE UP, that is not going to happen!
Right now we are at a point where we have come to a pragmatic decision. Do we want SC2 to grow (if it isnt too late already) or do we want to keep believing in an utopia?

If you don't like it why are you here?

I swear all of your posts that I've seen leave the impression that you couldn't give two shits about this game or watching it. Just mindless number and e-peen comparison to other games.

I'm actually stunned that I disagree with a post so much. The exact point he is making is that there is no progress. There can't BE any progress. Compare how many new players come into the foreign scene compared to the korean scene. Korea as a whole have a whole slew of B-Teamers who appear like they're on the cusp of greatness. Balloon/Trust/Labyrinth/Sora/Bunny(CJ's)/Madbull, not to mention that Prime and FXO just recruited two/one new guys respectively. Compare that to the amount of new up and comers that the foreign scene has in Kane/Bunny/Xeno/Drunkenboi/Neeb. There's much less new blood coming into the foreign scene than there is the Korean scene with more retirements. The lack of region locked WCS is hugely to blame for that.

Anyone remember the Chilean player who ALMOST got through WCS AM qualifiers? Or the American terran from Clarity who was one game away from qualifying? Both taken out by Koreans and sent back into the realm of nothingness that is AM code B. Players like these could be the next big thing in the scene and neither even have a liquipedia page. For all of the good that WCS has done for the scene its done its fair share of harm.

Yes the progress isn't being made and while I agree that part of the problem is a lack of teamhouses and coaches and the like another huge part is the lack of time to shine. Say you're a foreign B-Teamer, maybe you're not at the level yet where you can take out your Goldens or your Sounds or [insert B-Teamer here] but maybe they can take on the foreign scene's bests as is and with a pick up by a major team they could get there. You just would never know because these players go through qualifier after qualifier and get stomped out by Koreans.

I'm also not saying that all tournaments should be region locked, I love me my Dreamhacks/IEMs/MLGs/ect but I think WCS should be. Let all of the previously mentioned tournaments have the mixed player pool while WCS, which is split into three regions anyway, actually feature people of the region in which they are in. I hope in 2014 Blizzard changes WCS rules so that you have to live in the region or at least stay there a certain (long) period of time a year to compete, unless you are in a region that doesn't have its own WCS finals. In my opinion that solves most of the problems with WCS, although not all. But I'm not about to go into the other problems when they have nothing to do with the topic at hand

I'm just saying man. TI3 is probably more influential over SC2's viewership this weekend (especially the casual viewerbase) than the actual details like WCS racial distribution, nationality distribution etc.

and the comparison between the last wcs eu and this one is also made worse because of the extreme luck that wcs eu #1 had stephano vs mvp as the finals.
