Im sorry to say this but Duck winning is the worst thing that could have happened to SC2. Any other player in the bracket would have been better for the tournament.
I dont feel that anything can push SC2 back on the path of growth right now, just too few competent businessmen in the scene

They probably will notice the huge drop off in viewing numbers compared to last season, and last years WCS EU finals. They are supposed to be making decisons that grow the scene not diminish it. Decisions like scheduling all WCS regional finals on the same weekend during TI3 finals.
Exactly. When Blizzard makes decisions that result in a reduction of viewers, then they should be called out on it. If the viewers go down, then they need to notice and address the reasons behind this.

They win everything, they halt EU and NA progress in sc2, they halt new EU and NA stars development. It;s one of the reasons LoL and DOTA are so much popular, it's just not interesting to watch tournaments, knowing that (insert random korean pro) will win the tournament. What fucking progress. NA and EU are miles behind because they don't do teamhouses, don't have designated coaches (not everyone at least), don't have practice partners whenever they want etc. They have created styles, sure. They have innovated on many strategical points in the game, but NA and EU have to work for success. I for one love the fact that we don't have segregation like LoL. Watching competition that is pampered in that way is no fun. If Europeans and Americans want to persevere, let them work for their fruits and so when they finally, win, they cry like duckdeok. That way, they are actually proud of their win.
I'm actually stunned that I disagree with a post so much. The exact point he is making is that there is no progress. There can't BE any progress. Compare how many new players come into the foreign scene compared to the korean scene. Korea as a whole have a whole slew of B-Teamers who appear like they're on the cusp of greatness. Balloon/Trust/Labyrinth/Sora/Bunny(CJ's)/Madbull, not to mention that Prime and FXO just recruited two/one new guys respectively. Compare that to the amount of new up and comers that the foreign scene has in Kane/Bunny/Xeno/Drunkenboi/Neeb. There's much less new blood coming into the foreign scene than there is the Korean scene with more retirements. The lack of region locked WCS is hugely to blame for that.
Anyone remember the Chilean player who ALMOST got through WCS AM qualifiers? Or the American terran from Clarity who was one game away from qualifying? Both taken out by Koreans and sent back into the realm of nothingness that is AM code B. Players like these could be the next big thing in the scene and neither even have a liquipedia page. For all of the good that WCS has done for the scene its done its fair share of harm.
Yes the progress isn't being made and while I agree that part of the problem is a lack of teamhouses and coaches and the like another huge part is the lack of time to shine. Say you're a foreign B-Teamer, maybe you're not at the level yet where you can take out your Goldens or your Sounds or [insert B-Teamer here] but maybe they can take on the foreign scene's bests as is and with a pick up by a major team they could get there. You just would never know because these players go through qualifier after qualifier and get stomped out by Koreans.
I'm also not saying that all tournaments should be region locked, I love me my Dreamhacks/IEMs/MLGs/ect but I think WCS should be. Let all of the previously mentioned tournaments have the mixed player pool while WCS, which is split into three regions anyway, actually feature people of the region in which they are in. I hope in 2014 Blizzard changes WCS rules so that you have to live in the region or at least stay there a certain (long) period of time a year to compete, unless you are in a region that doesn't have its own WCS finals. In my opinion that solves most of the problems with WCS, although not all. But I'm not about to go into the other problems when they have nothing to do with the topic at hand

I'm just saying man. TI3 is probably more influential over SC2's viewership this weekend (especially the casual viewerbase) than the actual details like WCS racial distribution, nationality distribution etc.

and the comparison between the last wcs eu and this one is also made worse because of the extreme luck that wcs eu #1 had stephano vs mvp as the finals.
