Also if it turns out he'd not 4 gating but expanding or going stargate or whatever how far behind can you be? I think it's a clever build, I'm just wondering if it's worth it to always prepare for the possibility of it. Depending on spawn positions and opening, i feel like it would be between 7 and 9 minutes depending on how lucky you are. Then you get there, see he has 2 nexi and more phonixes than you have stalkers (say if he's doing free's build) and you are completely and utterly fucked with no chance of coming back because you are about to lose 25 probes.

Speaking of which, that map seems almost ideal for phoenix play, yet I don't see it as the prevalent PvP strat.

Two spawns, three corridoors each blocked by three mineral walls. Can't even remember how well liked it was, but it did give a few entertaining games at least.

If you go blink obs expo, you're even further behind if your opponent opened with a greedy build. And you most likely won't be doing any damage because blink relies on catching things out of position, sniping stuff, etc and keeping your opponent in his base. All the guy needs to do is keep his army in one spot and you're pretty dead.

By the time you get a scout off it's too late to change your build as drastically as you would need to, especially since you don't even know the guy's spawn position so you can't check his chrono energy/gas timing/gateway timing/cyber core timing/3rd pylon.
