Squirtle lost that game when he decided not to do the wonwonwon and take a third base.

I honestly think Squirtle was trying to game the wine-in-front-of-me situation. He knew that Leenock knows that the Wonwonwon is the best option for the map and was probably hoping for Leenock to misread and commit to a Suppy-style spine defense while he safely took the 3rd.

My key problem here is this: why does every single zerg-favored map have to be so obviously insanely advantageous for zerg (whirlwind, abyssal, taldarim in the past) while a "terran/protoss-favored" map will still show good winrates and balanced games?

And no, I am not doubting Leenock's ability. It was marvelous. Just impossible to hold on such a map.

This should also dispel those zerg arguments of "if infestors are taken out something else has to be put in or zerg will suck Q.Q" because clearly, they don't. You saw how your hero Leenock used mutalisks to bounce between bases and back them up with lings/roaches. The only reason anyone else claims the rest of the zerg army sucks is because infestor-bl gives such easy wins, anything else seems like a titanic effort in comparison.

Nobody's arguing that infestor-broodlord is required for midgame timing attacks. It's required for lategame deathball wars. Good luck taking down a 200/200 Protoss army with mutalisks and roach drops.

Well, Leenock avoids following in DRG's footsteps by losing in the GSL and then failing as an ace for his team in the GSTL, I guess the kid has quite a lot of mental fortitude.

The final is going to be interesting, FXO was the team that prevented MVP from getting to the final last year, and Leenock was the player that completely activated DRG's slump, time to see if the boys in blue can get revenge and also grab another title.

Yeah, Leenock clearly isn't skilled at all and just effortlessly a-moved around the map. Oh wait, that's totally not true. My bad.

Actually, that's pretty much what he did. Granted, adding overlord drop and 3 hotkey groups makes the job harder, but that was nothing compared to the vigilance Squirtle needed to have just the right blinks, guardian shields, and FFs at the right place and the right time.

Well if you say so, it must be true.

Good counterargument. Can I get lessons from your school of rhetoric, o wise one? -_-

What the hell is there even to argue about that incredible biased view?

"A Zerg attack like that is super easy, and the defense by the Protoss super hard. Period."

No shit I'm not gonna write an actual argument in response, because all hope is clearly lost.

No, you're not going to write an argument in response because you can't think of one. Also, from my point of view (shared by many in the comments), your response is the biased one. The objective evaluation is that Abyssal City is an incredibly difficult map for PvZ. Nice try, though.

Is it not somewhat disturbing how good(and how often used) overlord drops are compared to nyduses, or are the two even comparable?

Overlord drops aren't that great against blink on most maps; Abyssal is the only map in the pool in which the main is easily accessible with overlords and the blink stalker distance from the main to the 3rd is significant.

"lol leenock clearly played 50x better he has to perfect macro injects multitask all over the place snipe sentries/immortals with roaches all squirtle did was spam f click". If you try hard enough you can make anything sound easy or difficult. You haven't provided an argument, merely stated an opinion, in a clearly biased way (apparently literally the only thing Leenock did all game was a-move three control groups?).

Yes. Nyduses are good for bronze league cheese and a few weird queen- or hydra-based strategies, overlord drops are excellent for timing pushes and harassment all game long.

Daybreak compensates with a fairly small choke at the 3rd away from the natural and a ramp to the natural partially blocked by debris.

Game 7 Summary

Bomber Lucky

Bomber at the bottom and Lucky up top. Bomber goes for 1rax CC and Lucky a hatch first. Lucky gets an early gas while Bomber is teching up to a factory for reactored hellions, but Lucky puts down the roach warren. 10 roaches from Lucky heading towards Bomber's base along with some slow lings. Bomber is building too many addons and only has one marauder. He reacts slowly and lets the roaches onto his ramp, which block the SCVs trying to get back into the main, and Bomber is slow to repair the depot wall. It falls, and SCVs die. GG.
