Though that's easy to say after the games are played, but with ST's hype on it's players few gave FXO a shot, no matter if they won last GSTL or not. Fact is they didn't look that amazing going in to it either.

ST weren't looking so hot either - with squirtle kinda slumping, curious falling in WCS to a foreigner, parting 0-4'd out of the ro16, life 0-4'd by soulkey, and bomber being inconsistent as ever, it's hard to say they were 100%. favoured, probably, but not even strongly so, since leenock and gumiho are intensely streaky and strong players

I would have put bomber in 2nd against Gumiho and saved Parting for later.

FXO to win the whole thing. MVP would've had the chance of shaking off the TSL curse vs the Kongtale curse but now all hope is lost.

MVP vs FXO. I think I prefer this over IM in the finals because MVP and FXO definitely feel like very similar teams.
A couple of Code S stars. Mix of Code A and B players.
I think MVP is slightly favoured again because of their superior Protoss line vs only Tear, but Gumiho alone crushes MVP's entire terran line in team league quality.
It will 100% come down to who wins the ZvZs. If Lucky can ZvZ out DRG or Sniper, FXO has a great chance. And most likely any ace vs ace potential would be ZvZ Leenock vs Drg/sniper.

I am changing my team icon to MVP and adding Sniper's name to my profile to make sure they don't win

Startale should have at least made it to the Finals this season just in terms of their depth. I guess they still need to find a way to find cohesion as a group and get wins. Honestly, Startale should have won. The reason for FXO's victory was Gumiho playing like a god against Life and taking him out in the first match, then also taking down Parting. He took down ST's two strongest players himself. That should not have happened, as great as Gumiho is in team league he's not a champion of any tournament. Life played poorly and the defeat I feel is solely because of his bad performance. He is supposed to be their ace and he went out so easily. This was Startale's season, it was their best shot. Their entire A team lineup is in form with strong results recently and they should be the best team, they demonstrated in IPTL that they are the best team. I'm still quite shocked that they lost here, FXO is amazing but they don't have a lineup of 5 star players. asd and Tear while great are no Bomber, Life, Parting, Squirtle or even Curious. They shouldn't lose to any team playing Life, Parting, Squirtle, Bomber, Curious. It just shouldn't happen, but it did. IM shouldn't have lost any team leagues either, by this logic. Shit happens. IM's failures in team leagues are usually attributed to the decisions of their coach or Mvp and NesTea being weak in teamleague, It's not quite the same. I get what you're saying but really, they shouldn't have lost. I think their biggest mistake was not leaving their strongest player ( Life ) to meet Leenock in the end, I think if they put Squirtle out first instead and left Life for the end they would have had a higher chance to win the last game. Then again Life played poorly in his match and just went 0-4 out of GSL to ZvZ so who knows. Anyway, full credit to FXO for winning but this is just weird.
IM also won the first two IPL team leagues and came 2nd in the third one. Yet they didn't do well in GSTL. Team leagues are just different from individual leagues. Some players just do better in this format plus in winners format, team depth doesn't factor in as much. Sometimes whoever has the hottest player wins.
As the current Code S has shown, most of the top players can beat each other on any given day. So a lot of team league success comes down to which players performs on that day. Who knows, maybe if they played tomorrow, Life would have beat Gumiho and then go onto an all kill.

Gumiho crushed Life and Parting, Lucky ZvZ'd Curious and all inned (ok fine it was a 'timing attack') Bomber, and Leenock proved too much for Squirtle.

Insane results. Gumiho and Lucky were freaking clutch.

Gumiho...wow....that game vs life
|
just saw vods for game 7, bomber forgot his first depot for 30+ seconds

Wow Squirtle was on fire today, played very good games!
|
Wow, I'm sad I only got up to Game 3 last night. Seemed like an epic series despite players not playing their best.

watched G1 Gumiho vs Life VOD
TvZ back to being SC2's premier match up
funny how the game looked so much like 2011 TvZ with its mediva harass, multi-prong attacks, and ghost usage
|
hah.. pretty sweet games.

Leenock is so damn clutch.
