Seeker does an awesome job in the LR threads so we can forgive a little slip-up. Plus everyone knows lurkers are OP ![]()

MC probably has enough awesome nicknames, but we really need somebody we can call the Titanium Toss imo.

Snowbird revealed on the GOMTV.net forums that there's a special event coming up: There's no AOL planned in the near future but there's a different 'extra tournament' coming soon! AOL is always something we can do spontaneously if time permits, but this year's schedule is so packed that we didn't get around to it yet.

Game 1 he shows the same allin as the first series (7-gate +2 blink), then fakes a different allin (sentry/immortal/gatway with a hallucinated WP, which he deliberately "accidentally" flew into tower range then pulled back). Then he took a 3rd and macroed. You follow that? Fake allin (which your opponent is paranoid about) into an entirely different fake allin into macro. If Symbol doesn't get drop then he will be way behind if his low tech army fails to break the 3rd (I assume Squirtle is confident in his control vs. the standard dropless roach max). Symbol SHOULDN'T get drop in that situation - Khaldor and Wolf were talking about how it's basically a wasted 300/300 vs a blink allin, which Squirtle was feigning. It was an incredible read and response from him to get drop. Squirtle even talked about being fooled for a bit: "I expected him to do all-in after all-in even in the final match. So I decided to make units which he tried to counter by taking an expansion but I also had a counter to that so I was able to win." Game 2 his build is the same build as the fast 2 immortal/sentry allin, but he plays it out with the macro variation (only 4gates -> 3rd nexus with wall at the ramp to the 3rd) that is very common on entombed. Then he allins with a delayed immortal/gateway/warp prism build (the same one as the second allin he faked in game 1). So he did a potential allin into a fake macro game (that his opponent had seen him play before, and is super common on this map that he chose) into a delayed allin (that his opponent had already seen faked, and might not have taken as seriously). The level of mindfuckery Squirtle was pulling off in that series was so incredible that I barely noticed when Symbol smashed the shit out of him. Game 1 played out similarly to the first Game 1 they played, and Symbol went for the exact build, going for drops. The difference was that in the first series, Squirtle was able to pick off some roaches wandering around, and his nexus continuously got sniped so he decided to attack. Of course we'll never know whether it was a fake expand or a real one, but we do know that he attacked in that case. This caught Symbol off guard and the attack occurred juuuust before Symbol was ready to drop. In fact his Overlords were already wandering near Squirtle's base, out of position and obvious. In the second Game 1 Symbol went for the same build. Whether or not Squirtle was doing an all-in or a fake all-in, it looked like Symbol was planning to drop anyway, especially on a map like Daybreak (good spot to load up beside main, long distance and weird simcity from third to main, etc). Now if Squirtle had actually attacked instead of expanding, who knows what might have happened. It was mostly good play from Symbol that won him the game, but I think he would have been safe even if Squirtle had actually all-inned, since he saw a similar build to the first Game 1, he was prepared to defend, and that defense (moar roaches early) fed directly into his eventual plan (roach drops). Game 2 I have no idea why he decided to do an all in after losing so many sentries and energy with that ling run-by. The sentries with force field were a crux of that build so having fewer sentries (I think he lost 4) and less energy should have convinced him to not do that attack. Also, after seeing Symbol prefer going for drops in almost every situation, he could (not should, mind you) have figured out that sentries would have been useless against Symbol's drop style (even if the drops were used in defense). Of course it's a fairly new style so we can't blame him for not figuring that part out. Still, to fake expand on Entombed, the easiest map in the pool to get a 3rd nexus up, was a curious choice, especially when you look at Squirtle's insane stats for late game situations. He basically always wins in the late game yet he decided to all in. That's the funny thing about trying to play mind games though, if you succeed it is way awesome, but when you fail it looks terrible (instead of just playing your standard game). Of course as the audience we have map omniscience and talk in retrospect. Squirtle is still an awesome player, I just don't agree with how he played out that second series after his success in the first.
