Far from underrated? Yes. Read this thread or any thread that mentions top Zergs/Symbol and you'll find enough posts calling him the best player in the world despite not winning anything. That what happens when you reverse-all kill against IM, playing final in 2 major tournaments, also being in round of 8 after two group of deaths. Still not enough to call him the best Zerg/best player. There are players that have performed far better, there's even a zerg at the moment performing better(DRG) Just watch his games against MKP in round of 32. im not saying hes the best zerg player but symbol deserves hype.
If someone is overrated, its MKP. He hasnt played round of 8 in GSL since 1.5 years. And peoples like you calling him "best player in the world".

Don't forget that 4-kill against Fnatic. Moon, Oz, Byul, Alive in a row. also, lol @ comparing symbol to ff7. He's more like ff4, highly regarded amongst ff intellectuals but underplayed by the general populace. And that's why it's hard to put a finger on a player's hype because it's never universal. You will have people deservedly saying he's insanely good etc etc (and he is) but some of the claims are just ridiculous. And others say that people don't give enough credit to him for his crazy run lately.
It's my personal opinion that the hype for Symbol leans a bit towards the overhyped part of the spectrum because he hasn't yet had the opportunity to win any tournaments and may not necessarily perform as well as he goes farther, and the FF example was just to illustrate whence the people saying he's a bit overhyped are coming. Obviously analogies aren't the best of things to use unless one wishes to illustrate very specific things; FF4 was released long ago and has stood the test of time well, hard to say that starcraft intellectuals only can appreciate Symbol o.e; rather elitist claim.

Wow, cool to see Symbol made it through. So many people were hating on him after his first match, I bet they were all on his balls again when he advanced.

MC has a legit shot to win GSL if he can beat Taeja.
Symbol, DRG and Nestea are clearly going to be the other 3 slots in the semi finals because Zerg OP and MC has great PvZ.
I'd still favor DRG over him but if he can beat Taeja he has really good shot.
|
@aerisky Yeah, I admit that was kind of a lighthearted comparison, Symbol has yet to win a championship.

All players in RO8 have a legit shot to win GSL. Just depends whos on better that day, gets good scouting, least mistakes etc. They are all good. But in a BO7 finals I don't see anyone beating MC except maybe DRG.

Can someone remind me, does RO8 consist of BO5's?

I really would like for him to be GSL champ, prove the doubters wrong, and consolidate his position as a top zerg if MC weren't in the tournament. Hope Symbol can take another high-level event though since MC is still beasting--bosstoss all the way keke, proving the doubters wrong and emerging with flying colors out of this group of fire and brimstone >:3

They do indeed.

Online and LANs he kicks butt in but GSL seems not to be format he thrives in. Seems like players can prep for him more. Or maybe he's just unlucky there. Eitherway his bank account says he's not overrated. Top 5 easy.

I'm so relieved that Symbol made it through too. The level of flaming against one player or another is downright ridiculous sometimes. Symbol practices really hard so that he can provide good games and he's showing a level of consistency that's quite admirable. There's a reason for his hype and people see the potential in him, so fans shouldn't flame him for that. Symbol's really humble about all of it too which makes him that much more lovable. I seriously hope he just takes the whole tournament home.

Players normally feel jetlagged on the first day and get extended-series'ed on the second day. GSL is where they are at their best condition. MKP is overrated, top5 terran for sure, but he will never win a GSL, because other players think hes super good and always pick him in the group of death, and he proved that he couldn't handle it.

If you had to pick a player to win a tournament where you didn't know who you were playing in advance, MKP would probably be the best pick in the world (at least best Terran pick). I think all the ladder-gods are great picks for those types of tournaments.

Wow this LR sure is ugly.
I'm so glad MC won, I think I'm going to root for him now that Mvp my Sun and Stars is out. <33

Agreed, MKP is not very good at preparing for matches but as a player he is great. The problem is if he gets prepared for he has a hard time. This is why he has never been able to beat MVP in a finals or long series.

I think Seeker should stop providing these game 'recaps' and his own subjective ratings in the recommended section. Not only are they biased (in favor of Terran, go figure), but they're also somewhat of a spoiler, and a lot of people simply wish to know which games are most worth watching without knowing what to expect beforehand.

Today my recaps were retarded because I was angry I admit that.
But all my other ones I take care in writing them. I always make sure nothing is spoiled. I apologize for today's recaps, but it won't happen again.
But in order for me to improve, please post the ones where you felt like I spoiled something. I will work on those and make sure it doesn't happen again
