Please have some respect for the players, teams, and tournament. Criticism is fine, criticism without anything to back it up isn't so cool. Thanks! |

If a player is later than a certain amount, the admins can auto-disqualify them or offer their opponent a free win. This, "pressing for a DQ" is extrapolated by random people based on little to no information. Many players have auto-dropped games or been entirely disqualified for being late, this isn't the first time. Don't blame the guy who showed up on time, blame MLGs rules, the admins, or the person who showed up late. wut. That random person is CEO of Evil Geniuses Alex Garfield.

Puma was in fact late, and the fact that he allined twice is completely irrelevant. Sure, it's a bit of a dick move, but not exactly something back-handed or whatever. If Puma and EG didnt want this to occur they should have been on time. he could have been a good sport and not taken the walkover when it was optional and puma was 2 minutes late Yes. He could have. But why? To ease the minds of some people on the forums? Come on now, he's a competitive player and he has no obligation to not accept a free-win when it is offered to him. He enforced the win. Most people playing sports have something like sportmanship where you wait if your opponent is a couple minutes left. Everything else is extremely bad mannered in an offensive way. Did you never play any kind of sports?
Coming late for a scheduled match and then expecting your opponent to just roll over and not take the free win is whats bad mannered here. EG let their player get late for his match and payed the price for it.

Ostijoy absolutely made the correct (if dickish) decision to take the forfeit.
Puma wasn't 2 minutes late, he was 2 minutes later than the forfeit time (which I believe is 10 minutes). Ostijoy played the series exactly as cutthroat as he should as an SC2 player.
Rules are rules. You can't be a dick to follow them. It's your right.

he acted like a kid and demanded to get a game in the series because Puma was 2 minutes late, and then cheesed 2 games in a row. I'm glad DRG swatted him away like a fly tbh. When Ostojy loses 0-5 and doesn't win a single game in his group I'll know there's order in the world. and you heard it from what? some random guy? From Alex Garfield, the executive director of EG Yeah, so basically you heard it from a biased source. Wait till you get the full story before calling people out already.
doesn't matter. The fact he asked for the walkover, or hell even accepted it without contesting, is enough for me to dislike him and lose respect for the team.

He demanded a walkover from the admins, Puma wasn't way later than 2 minutes, though it was more. And people generally dislike cheesy players. So it's not really unexpected that he didn't pick up loads of fans.
Which makes me wonder why so many people are behind Puma on this issue. Just desperate for drama I suppose.

LOL oh man does ostoboy not know that many players have set the precedent of actually waiting for late players? Whitera for example...they even forfeited the games themselves to negate the DQ! i guess there are classy players who can wait for 30 minutes but less classy players who cry about 2 minutes... And then cheeses him both times
I'm surprised people actually complain about Puma getting cheesed....

True, but I hope you see my point. This was more aimed to people calling Ostojy BM guy, loser or something similar when in fact they did not knew what happened for real,

Why? I expect any sc2 player to try to win. This was a free win to advance straight into pool play or fall into the losers bracket, that's a huge deal. If he can get a walkover win because Puma broke the rules then that's that. Don't be late.

Reddit actually ripped Alex Garfield for being an ass in that one.
