Is anybody even remotely surprised by this outcome... Was no reason for this to even be played.

As bad as the show match went. I hope that Desrow sees how far away he is from the top and go crazy to try to improve or just stop wasting his money.

I'm looking through the thread as I couldn't watch it live last night, what were the results?

I'm just disapointed people actually thought Desrow was going to win. (theres a difference between rooting for someone and thinking they are going to win)

Desrow was barely NA GM though. The thing with SC2's ladder is that if you play a lot, and I mean A LOT, like desRow did (he has played fulltime 8-10 hours a day for what now, a year+?) you almost inevitably will reach GM if you are of decent masters caliber in the first place. He barely even made it to top100 in NA GM either despite this and had a win percentage of like 55% if i'm not mistaken. To me he's just kind of mediocre in every way and i'm not seeing this potential that I see in other players. Like, I don't fancy his way of thinking SC2 at all. For instance he's pretty much exclusively copying others' builds without much innovation at all, and then performing them in a rather lackluster way. When he has mastered those builds they're already 'outdated' and he's on the backtrack once again, looking for another build to grab. There's no inherent problem with taking other's builds but if you do you should also think: 1. What can I do to improve this build and to make it fit my own playstyle? 2. What is the point of this build and when should I avoid/stop using it? To me he usually doesn't seem to answer either of those questions and just uses them like they're the holy graal of builds and have no flaws whatsoever. I like a more rational, pragmatic approach to SC2, I believe it makes you develop in a much better fashion rather than if you just look at how other's do without reflecting over the circumstancial facts. Don't get me wrong here, i'm not a Desrow basher. I've watched his stream quite a bit and from time to time i've enjoyed it, but I generally don't think he thinks of SC2 in a constructive manner which is unfortunate, and due to this I'm not seeing how he's supposed to improve in the future either unless he changes his thought process. Win percentages on ladder don't mean anything at all, and desrow is better than many of the NA grandmasters players when he is playing his best. I don't think he showed his best play in this showmatch, but I have seen him looking much stronger sometimes on NA ladder, even against strong players. Also ladder is a pretty terrible indicator of skill. I don't think desrow will be winning mlg any time soon, but he just got to korea, and the showmatches he has lost so far have been to players with very abnormal styles. Qxc plays a hyper-aggressive terran and Golden used builds which are risky and definitely not standard.
thanks and I'm sincerely sorry to anyone who watched the match and thought they wasted their time. At first when I arrived in Korea I had an easy time and a lot of confidence but for the past 4days i've been having a rough time, hopefully my next showmatch will be more exciting. Thanks to everyone who tuned in and sorry to those that didn't enjoy it.

Thanks to everyone who tuned in and sorry to those that didn't enjoy it. Ignore the haters man, you've only been there a couple of weeks and played against a zerg who's lived at the slayers house and practices with some of the best protoss in the world. Don't apologize to people, you're actually doing so much good content for the community (vlogs, streams, showmatch), I'm very thankful for it. And people need to stop being douchebags, you have the right mindset and practice against the best but improving in Korea isn't something that happens in a few weeks, people don't seem to understand this.
Not only that, you've also had to deal the with stress of maybe having to replace your computer, going out and finding a power supply, and settling into a new country. You haven't been 100% focused on SC2, while Golden has. Now that the systems are in place the learning curve will really kick into high gear.
I've lived in six different countries, the initial part still doesn't get any easier.

Only saw the first 2 games, desRow screwed up the 1st game big time. Fast third + moving out at 150 supply? Get screwed so hard. 2nd game was a hydra mind game by golden that i believe ANYONE would never expect a muta transition so fast so desRow have NO way of winning that game (unless mh) but yeah. I believe desRow would proly stand a chance if he played his best or something.
