Same drill as usual: - No caster bashing.
- Excessive tournament bashing that detracts from game discussion will be met with moderator action. Criticism is welcome, whining is not.
- In general do your best to stay on topic and discuss what we're all here for: the games.
Enjoy the games guys. |

The internet is a fickle bunch. Rather than understand that NASL has its problems, but it still largely works through them and will undoubtedly provide a great live finals with a lot of great games, everybody has instead retreated to an position of hating on the NASL.
Once the bandwagoning starts, it's hard to turn it around. People prejudged this tournament before it started. Short of perfection (note, that also means removing HoN and god knows what else) to the community, it was going to get torn to shreds.

I think TT1's intro has been the best one so far. Aviator(?) glasses and pokemon theme is pretty kick-ass.

The crowd shot from the NASL season 1 finals...where is everyone?

They should get some cardboard cut-outs of random people and line the red carpet with them.

lol, why did it slow down when he was killing a pylon

More like the best by far I've ever seen( vs curious or some other prime zerg on tal'darim). Orgasmic game. You're talking about the 3-way Phoenix zealot attack reminiscent of the Bisu Build? I think it was in a GSTL game and he wrecked that zerg into qqland Ya, iirc he made the first stalker at the 18 min mark and scouted like a mad man throughout the entire game with random zealots popping everywhere, sick sick game.

Yeah still wondering about that.. Tweet the world with a 'free entrance' action or something. They still got 25k viewers onstream, make it more enjoyable for the bigger audience? It's like a Comedy Club. It's better to give away free tickets to play to an empty crowd. At least you'd be able to satisfy the sponsors, hopefully sell some concessions/merchandise, etc. Honestly, I think the problem, with NASL as a whole may simply be a lack of business acumen. For example, PR 101 is that when you're trying to promote something you make sure that the venue/arrangements are too small/little for the crowd you expect. You do the same thing in politics: when you're on the campaign trail, every stop should be a little too small to actually support the event. That way you create the perception of being more popular than you are. Of course, this is just one item, and certainly I can't imagine the NASL folks expected anything like this small a turnout. That said, everybody knows they're trying to really "save" NASL and to demonstrate that it should exist. It seems like even once they knew this wasn't going well they just decided to carry on and hope for the best without attempting to do anything. I think my point is just that even in bad circumstances, there are things to be done which more seasoned business minded folks would keep in mind, and this may be a manifestation of a generally poor business sense which is mucking the whole operation up.
At the end of the day ... something about the whole tournament is 'off'. I really appreciate and respect what they are trying to contribute to the community, but everything points to poor management and weak leadership.
