Same drill as usual: - No caster bashing.
- Excessive tournament bashing that detracts from game discussion will be met with moderator action. Criticism is welcome, whining is not.
- In general do your best to stay on topic and discuss what we're all here for: the games.
Enjoy the games guys. |

I think its Windy over there or something? That's at least what someone said before. Someone said there was a windstorm? o,o Two nights ago, yes, a really big windstorm hit, largest in memory, and did fuck up some stuff in the LA foothills. Really, though, no one wants to ever drive out to Ontario. Its an hour from LA with zero traffic, and 1.5 - 2 hours with traffic. Exactly. Do you realize how close Ontario is to RIVERSIDE?! I wouldn't wish upon anyone to visit that awful, awful place, or anywhere near it.
I know! It's even in San Bernardino county! Fuck that noise!

Noooo europeans, dont leave me alone! Pull an all nighter and we can watch GSL finals together too!!!
I´m with you! Or maybe I will fall asleep at some point, no way of telling right now. Each game brings new motivation to stay up though.

From the footage, 20+ people tops? Proof that S3 finals should be in east Tennessee. I could bring more people than that on my own! Yes please! I would love this.

This was how the setup was during last NASL and it was the reason why people thought the crowd was so loud and enthusiastic. Did anyone not remember the troll comments thrown at InControl at times from last event?

I don't think anyone is complaining... just curious as to what went wrong. It is pretty clear from the massive amount of empty chairs that things are not going according to plan.

Yeah still wondering about that.. Tweet the world with a 'free entrance' action or something. They still got 25k viewers onstream, make it more enjoyable for the bigger audience? It's like a Comedy Club. It's better to give away free tickets to play to an empty crowd. At least you'd be able to satisfy the sponsors, hopefully sell some concessions/merchandise, etc.
Honestly, I think the problem, with NASL as a whole may simply be a lack of business acumen. For example, PR 101 is that when you're trying to promote something you make sure that the venue/arrangements are too small/little for the crowd you expect. You do the same thing in politics: when you're on the campaign trail, every stop should be a little too small to actually support the event. That way you create the perception of being more popular than you are. Of course, this is just one item, and certainly I can't imagine the NASL folks expected anything like this small a turnout. That said, everybody knows they're trying to really "save" NASL and to demonstrate that it should exist. It seems like even once they knew this wasn't going well they just decided to carry on and hope for the best without attempting to do anything. I think my point is just that even in bad circumstances, there are things to be done which more seasoned business minded folks would keep in mind, and this may be a manifestation of a generally poor business sense which is mucking the whole operation up.

There was a crowed for season 1 though.

Kinda sucks to have those overlays between the games again and again and again. Would have been cool if they would have recorded some pre tournament footage with the players.

i'll wait for day9 and husky, but i wish i could have 480 too

There was a picture posted earlier of the crowd in this thread - looked to be about 16-17 people. ಥ_ಥ

Honestly, this event has been good so far. Some minor sound issues but great games and good casting. I don't see why you wouldn't go if you live nearby.

So... whilst nothing is happening.
How do you guys think Geoff (incontrol) will try to save face during then next SOTG? Can't wait for his lobbyism about how this was exactly what NASL needed to not die during Season 3. And no I am not NASL hating here, I paid for Season 1, I just find it sad that they are obviously not listening to the fans and it's evidently showing
EDIT: yay it's on, go Thorzain
