lol @ $10 entry fee. Very few if any other online tournaments have had entry fees, with similar sometimes larger, sometimes smaller prize pools than this. I'd hate to see other tournaments start charging for entry into their "open tournaments."
At people saying they don't want to make money...uh...they do want the money out of your pocket, that's why they have the gaul to make it $10 entry.
Anyways...I think it's a pretty bad idea, especially with how people will be seeded or not seeded. They will handpick seeds, just like they handpicked the original first 50 nasl people...
How will seeding work exactly?

I can't believe avilo has a problem with this!
color me shocked.. shocked and mystified!

Man I remember the broodwar days us people in Toronto would train for months for the chance to win a 150 grand prize winner takes all with a 20 dollar entrance fee.
Have a problem with paying 10 bucks to participate in a fairly prestigious tournament with a chance to play in the NASL?? Then don't pay. I'm assuming anybody who has a problem with the setup wouldn't have a shot at winning anyways. Be gone haters!!

I don't understand why people are complaining about an entrance fee either. It saves them time with less match reviews and essentially weeds out people that aren't serious about this tournament and a chance to go to California to compete.

It's a forum, I used this keyboard thing here to write my opinion into a forum post on a forum. Color me shocked and mystified that incontrol was going to make a sarcastic comment about "avilo having a problem with it" to try and downplay an opinion being expressed contrary to his business related endeavors.
You're a pretty big man now though in the SC2 community, probably the biggest one of all. How dare I comment on a tournament having an entry fee. How crazy of me.
Anyways, it'd be interesting to know how the seeding will work.

This is a good opportunity for everyone that can afford this. As for me, I don't really have a big problem with at seeing that I am poor and can't afford that. For those who can, try it out this could turn into something good. For those complaining about it being $10, the NASL is a business, for a business to succeed it must profit. If the NASL didn't profit off of anything we might not see a season 2.

Profiting on Esports and helping esports aren't mutually incompatible, in fact they are one and the same thing in many ways.

The $10 fee is to weed out anyone not in grandmaster league and the $10 will help pay for the $500 stipend for the winner.
How will the seeding work? Based on TLPD ELO? or some other elo?

Woooosh. That's the sound of his actual point going over your head.

I'm also interested in knowing how seeding will work, considering the fact that this is a single elim tourney where top 8 gets spots for next season...
It'd be nice knowing the full details of an event before you pay money to register for it.

possibly 10,000 for a 1,000$ prize pool? this doesnt make sense.
And no profits shouldnt be made off the open bracket, it should be made off their advertising.

I remember Incontrol talking about how MLG online qualifier tourney was a nickel and dime buisness for the 7 dollar fee. Think it was on STOG. So just kind of funny NASL the same kind of thing.

You wanted an open qualification, and we give it to you, and you still complain. Don't know what to tell you
Since there's no incredibly accurate way to seed the players. I'll use the TLPD rankings to seed known players. That seems to be the best way to do it given little/no precedence for us. Hope you all enjoy.

I'm under the impression you do not understand the concept behind a buisness. I would like to hear your logical argument as to why they should not profit (or charge $10 for that matter) off the open bracket. It helps to weed out the players who do not necessarily think they stand a chance. They also need to pay the admins since organizing and running a 1024 person tourny does take people's time and I can assure you, is not enjoyable.
Also $10 isn't like they are asking for a kidney...its $10...if you have a problem paying that, I suggest you get a job or stop paying your monthly subscription on WoW or what ever other game you are paying to play.

Because its an invite only tournament, why do the casual fans have to pay 9 thousand dollars to the NASL just so they can operate an open tournament? I'm under the impression you do not understand the concept behind a successful business, because raping their primary market is not a good way to continue your services, especially when there are plenty of other competitors offering the same thing for free (see, IGN)
its 10$ for a garunteed 1 bo3? thats not a very good deal to me, especially since they openly admitted they dont plan on pouring into resources into fair seedings. If you say its only 10$ 100 times than you just screwed yourself out of 1,000$, so keep throwing your 10$ away.

It's a good deal if you think you have a realistic chance for top 8. Otherwise, obviously not. But I don't see what's the problem there. If you want to play in tournaments for fun or to improve, there's lots of free tournaments to choose from.

Demuslim is in, StrifeCro is in, Desrow, Killer, Hashe, Pokebunny, Whiplash.
At least there are recognizable names signing up this early.

Because all of them have a chance.
I'm in Mid-Masters, might sign up just for the experience of hopefully playing one of them (as long as there aren't too many signups who I don't recognize).

Your going to charge me, for the opportunity to play in your tournament? Excuse me? Someone needs an ass kicking. Absolutely 0 respect for the e-sports community. This is a giant kick in the face to Competitors. We make your tournament and you want us to pay you. I was really looking forward to this.. and out of principal i may not give in. I just thought that... maybe some of my games.. my contribution to playing in this tournament would be enough.. but apparently you want $10 as well.
