as for the 10$, its a great oppurtunity, and totally worth the cost if you have a shot at making top 8 ( or winning)

No amount of complaining or theorizing that it's some kind of get rich scam will have it removed. if you want to make some money, i think that's fine. but saying money is necessary to guarantee less no-shows is retarded. a $25 refundable deposit would work even better.

BTW You still haven't addressed how non USA players are supposed to get to the tournament with a $500 stipend. Heck a NY player will have trouble getting there with that much.

Its not only to guantee no shows, but push the level of competition up a bit. Why does everyone have such a huge problem with the 10$ fee lol, I thought it would be more, again, if you cant spare the 10$ then you shouldn't have entered anyways.

Heck a NY player will have trouble getting there with that much. $500 stripend + 500$ IF they lose in the first round, while 1000 may not cover their costs, itll be close im sure. not to mention, win one BO3 and u get 1500+ 500 stripend. Not to mention, whoever wins this open will MOST LIKELY be on a serious team that will either help, or cover their costs. Im not sure what a flight from europe to Cali costs, but 1000$ seems like it will cover at least most of it. (the 1000, is WORST CASE SCENARIO)

Ever think that perhaps your opinion is that on the one hand a refundable deposit is your preferred method? But for us the 10$ deposit makes more sense? Seriously. It's really simple.. if you cannot afford/on principle don't want to pay 10$ then please move along. But these theories or jabs aren't really needed. Was it ever a mystery that NASL wants to make money? It has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on a league so YES they want to make money and be lucrative. That was never a mystery or lie of sorts. I think 10$ is extremely fair and has good reason BESIDES wanting to make money. If that isn't the case for you please just move along.

I really can't imagine anyone HONESTLY thinking 10$ is unreasonable.

Some players are going to luck their way in with easy bracket sections while others while get screwed with their section. While I definitely agree on this. One thing to keep in mind is that the entry fee will at least stop a large portion of random people from joining and taking bracket spots from people who think they actually stand a chance. But yea, watching IPL single elim qualifiers as a "if you make it to the top 8 you are in" really seems like you won't be getting the highest caliber of players. EDIT: Looking at IPL2 players, theres only 1 player I didn't recognize that qualified and I'm sure hes recognizable to other people. My only concern is having a completely random no-name qualifying because he got a lucky bracket. No I dont think up and comers shouldnt have a chance, only that if they make it without beating a name player I will feel awkward a bit.

so for as far as saying its bad for the open to have $10 as an entry fee i would say its crazy to say its a bad thing. it only benefits everyone. even if you lose first round, you had the experience of a well set up tournament and got to participate in it. if you aren't looking to ever pay an entry fee then maybe you should ask yourself it the tournament scene is actually what you want.

I remember a discussion back that buy-in tournaments/getting profits from tournaments aren't aloud by blizzard unless you have a contract with them? Sorry if this is all incorrect. You need a blizzard tournament license, I imagine they have one.

Sorry if this is all incorrect. *allowed "the Battle.net Terms of Use state that it is a violation of the agreement—and an infringement of Blizzard’s copyright in the underlying game—to “use the Service for any ‘e-sports’ or group competition sponsored, promoted or facilitated by any commercial or non-profit entity without Blizzard’s prior written consent”. And I'm pretty sure a venture such as NASL would get Blizzard's written consent.

GSL entry fee: one way ticket to Korea MLG entry fee: $70 and travel NASL entry fee: $10 for an online event. (Which, if you win, gets you prize moneys and travel moneys to an amazing event) THE HORROR!

- It will keep out non serious participants. - It will keep the cost of holding the event down and pay for the winner prize money.
