At least the Code A champion gets a guaranteed ride into Code S. That's something. I still don't think it will be a great draw though give how much has to be sacrificed to spend a whole month in Korea.

I love these changes, a huge step forward

Good news, this should be a good improvement - a bit of Team league, and regular tournament every week!

Wow! GSL never disappoints. It just gets better and better.
All foreign teams! Move to Korea ASAP! ;D

Edit: In skimming through it, I missed the fact that we get way more GSTL. That actually might take it. That makes sense I never noticed that. I think it's because every Code A champion just made it into Code S lol. Its a good change. Can anyone clarify how they are going to charge GSTL tickets? Will it be the same $5?

Can we get the cool little team icons in our signatures now? :D
I'd love to rock a SlayerS icon and be cool like all the BW posters.

So they're extending the GSTL to a quarter long thing... so what about the regular GSL?
Will they do it every month now or does that get extended over as well since it no longer rotates out with GSTL/Special events?
Nice that the Up/Down matches are a group stage. Less randomness involved. I'm thinking these changes were spurred by GSL champions and Boxer getting knocked out. If you have to lose a BO3, pray it isn't the first round of GSL Code S. So sick of the "MVP is bad now" comments just because you lose 1 BO3. -.-
Winning Code A is now a tiny bit more worth it instead of the weak money prize.

Not a surprise on the team league playing more regularly, the Code S caster guy on twitter responded to a PM of me on making the GSTL more regular so the up and coming players had a goal to practice for and he said that he is making it happen, which means they already had this in the workings.

Great changes! Winner of Code A getting into Code S is how it should have been. And MLG winner getting into code S? Sweet, NOW they have incentive to go to Korea.
|
While I dont think foreigners will try for code A, I think they will prolly accept the MLG Code S seed. GSTL is awesome

I think a lot of the issue with the Up & Down is that roughly 6 of the 8 from Code A get in and being in 3rd place in your group isn't necessarily a good thing. You're just as likely to get knocked down at 4th place (it more depends on the match up).
So, it really isn't going to change too much. And it actually makes it more likely that less of the Code A people will get in. But if the Up & Downs are Bo3, that's going to make for a lot of games.
I do just hope that the Ro32 Code S is Bo3s, but I get the feeling it won't be.

These changes are great. Expecially the GSTL, it's a proper team league now.

SC2 proleague woooooooooo!

Oh yeah, and for the GSTL, here's a good idea from the UFC of all things: Have a "match of the night" award. Doesn't need to be much (maybe 50 bucks to each player), can then either have it voted on or commentators can choose. Gives a small incentive to do something really awesome. Which is never a bad idea.
|
I think it be really fun if we some 2v2s up in here :D
|
I love what GSL is doing, but I am starting to wonder how they can dig into this bottomless pocket of money.
Don't ask, don't tell?

I still think that even with the winner of MLG getting into code S there's no reason for most foreigners to go to Korea. There's just not enough events for them to participate in.
Perhaps they could convince people to participate by adding a World Allstars team to the GSTL lineup. We already have Huk and Jinro participating in the GSL and thanks to the league exchange program between GSL and MLG there are 4 spots available in the GSL for foreigners (1 code S, 3 code A). Add to that the foreigners already in the foreigner house, and you have a lineup that should be able to do well.

So for the team league they have 20 matches over 10 weeks and two days per week does that mean there is only one match per day? Does that mean we might only get 4-5 games on those days and teams will have to wait 2-3 weeks between matches? Doesn't seem like much this is supposed to give everyone more to do right?
I think it would be neat to have two team matches per day, one proleage team style Bo5 and one winners league style and every team would face eachother once in each. Then we should get about the same number if games per day as a regular 4 Bo3 day and each team would get to play every 1 or two weeks.

gstl every week? i will now buy a premium ticket.

EDIT: Nevermind, I was wrong. Looks like it will be Hoseo.
