Ha well, it's only a replay or two! If Mondi can indeed beat Cruncher's style reliably with Infestors, it would go a long way towards motivating Zergs if Mondi were to release a replay.

Wait, your telling me that feedback doesn't work cross map and insta-gib anything with energy!?!?! You mean I have to get in range of the infestor to feed back it with my unit that can't attack and is retarded slow?!?! Thats unreasonable, I can't put the unit at risk!!!! They cost to much gas!?!?!?

All cannons were either canceled or killed. It was obvious the nexus would die. The roaches run by it to the bottom right main, and Cruncher lets it finish. 300 minerals he threw away. At many points in the game, he lost colossi to roaches in areas he clearly could have ran the colossus away, such as down cliffs or towards cannons. Unnecessarily lost colossi. He placed a crapton of cannons at his third up at the top. Don't know the exact count, but i recall it being in the realm of 10-15. That's 1500 or more minerals of static defense clumped into one small area that is easily avoided by drop play. Cruncher got an early stargate against a player that is well known for drop play against early stargates. Not hard to put 2 and 2 together. At one point in the game, Cruncher sent his entire air fleet (plus obs) to the top left base to deal with the small handful of roaches, maybe 8 or so, that had finished killing the rocks leading towards his 3rd. Cannons were already up - the roaches clearly would not be able to do any damage. By doing this, he leaves his natural almost completely undefended, save for like 3 cannons, and he gets punished for it. He even knew there were some roaches gathering near the ramp to the natural, as he had seen them burrow there with the stargate units before sending them to the top left. Now, I'm sure Mondragon made a few mistakes as well, but when you watch these games, you need to be objective. Don't blindly assume the player that won played better. Now, Mondragon definitely messed up with the cannon rush, and he didn't play that well in the fourth game. But if you think Cruncher played better for this series as a whole, you're kidding yourself. Thank you for this. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() MC will probably lose one game being caught a little off guard by thorzain's style. But he'll catch up. Training with Jinro is going to serve him well. Kas is going to roll adelscott. He'll play well in game one but lose anyway and then tilt and make horrible mistakes and lose terribly. Happens all the time. BoxeR vs Hasuobs is probably the most interesting Ro8 matchup. Hard to predict. I think hasuobs' PvT ain't too good, while BoxeR's TvP is so patient and solid. I think lag might screw BoxeR up a bit, 3-2 is the correct prediction imo. Naniwa is going to crush cruncher so hard it will make him look bronze league. He's on a whole different level of play. I give cruncher absolutely 0% chances he'll win.

TODAY in this best of 5 Cruncher played better, thus he won. Simple as that. Yea.... you made the same mistake.. Think about what you are trying to say. Really think. Is he the better player because he won? or did he win because he was the better player? (adding today to the statement doesn't make the reasoning any different right now). Because if you are saying he won because he is better (today). then there has to be reasons why he is better outside of the fact that he won. But my initial point still stands.. the way people are using the phrase "the better player wins" is a circular way of addressing the question. and it is flawed.

Go find a game where infestors actually makes a huge difference in ZvP. Yes fungal is pretty good, but nowhere near what people make them out to be. I have not seen a game where massing infestors has worked vs a competent protoss. Collosus/templar/pheonix all owns infestors.

Until Mondragon wins with it *shrug* People pay too much attention to individual units and not enough to the entire context behind them. The key is finding a good transition towards them in a way that leaves your opponent particularly vulnerable in one area. Maybe they become hesitant to leave their base buying you extra time, or they overproduce a specific unit. I don't know what it'll be in ZvP but the ZvT example of Broodlords into Ultras is a good start. Mondi cut down on Collosi/VRs and skewed Cruncher's composition towards Stalker/Phoenix but he stayed on mutas.

Walking it towards you to crush forcefields and then kill it with roaches is nice but there is lots of micro involved as the colossus numbers go up -.-

Kinda like what a pitcher would need to get a final out in the 9th inning, or a basketball player to hit a game winning shot. There are tons of great zerg players, but none of them are "finishing" in TSL3. So here's a baseball analogy. Suppose in baseball all players had to bat from the same side of the plate, and then suppose there is a season of baseball where left-handed batters have a league-wide batting average of .210, while right-handed batters have a league-wide batting average of .275, over all teams in the Major Leagues, over the whole ~150 game season. Should you say "Those lefties really need to step up their game"?

So true, they really really need to do more than simply just outplaying their opponents (game 2) and get their balls together.
