MLG generally has a shit ton of problems with their first event/day. Its usually fixed by the next day/event. Don't be too quick to judge.

The issure repairs itself because enough people turn their attention elsewere and bam they have few enough viewers to cast the event ;o Not really crazy about the LQ quality it's borderline watchable and the content is to unreliable for me to purchase anything. I love starcraft and I love MLG just wish it would work smooth :l

You won't be seeing any advertisements either (instead you just see "Stream will resume momentarily" static screen during the commercial breaks) The stream is LQ flash-stream where the browser falls back in case you don't have Octoshape installed. It is streamed via Akamai (_the_ premier content delivery network) and they have a ton of capacity to handle live streams unlike (apparently) Octoshape. It bums me a lot that MLG haven't got their stuff together considering the huge amount of funding they received from VCs. Don't really understand their decision still to continue using Octoshape even after all the problems that have been reported to them on previous occasions - and especially use it exclusively in HQ stream. Akamai's delivery costs are considerably higher than Octoshape's, but where in earth they are planning to use all the freaking dollars they got - the live streaming from the events is in the core of their business that I don't quite understand their decision making with regards to tech choices.. This is such an epic.... epic post.

MLG could set up in a single city and allow themselves to set up a really nice connection, but alienate 90% of the population, or they can travel around the country and have spotty internet. Crux of the matter is that the connections are good enough for a low quality stream but can't handle the b.net connection on top of that and shouldn't need to in the first place.

Japans internet is funded and controlled by the government and it blows ours away -_- It's not just about funding or government, US is a damn big territory which makes it very harder and VERY EXPENSIVE to fund very high speed DSL facilities. Of course US could reach the capacity of Sweden/Korea/France if enough money was thrown in but it would take your government to really push into that direction.

This is pretty impressive, and it's not like it's their first SC2 event so I wonder what happened for the traffic to be so much higher than the previous ones. It also certainly shows how great teamliquid has handled TSL3, with their 30 000+ viewers; the stream was still fine for me.
