Why dont blizzard just implement LAN support?

Piracy.

Greed.

They're a business. Their raison d'etre is to make money.

Exactly. Ruining their own product is not a good way to make money. It's, in fact, bad business.

Which is why we've asked over and over again to allow for some kind of tournament edition that allows for lan play. The reality is that they are right, no LAN doesn't matter 99% of the time for most people, but considering that the long term success of SC2 is tied to the success as an eSport, it seems like it would be GOOD for business.

The game was lagging for him too, he did a build to counter what grubby was doing and had the units to end the game regardless of lag. What do you want from him?

my problem with DDE is the fact that he tried to make Grubby look stupid knowing their matches were being streamed live to an audience.

Grubby: "I'm getting lag."

DDE: 'THERE IS NO LAG YOUR JUST CRYING CAUSE YOU'RE LOSING!" even tho there was clearly HUGE lag spikes. (this is obviously an exaggeration but this is EXACTLY how dde meant it by makiong T.T and "there is no lag for me" which was a lie

Well MLG can't control lag, it's because Blizzard doesn't give us LAN support.

They said its not Battle.net......and Bnet is working fine ....MLG just sucks, they would fuck this event up even with LAN support

except there would be no lag. lol

Dde saying he had no lag to downplay it lost my respect for him. I really hope they do a regame there or that Grubby just rolls over him in the next games.

Dude I understand that you're a big Grubby fan, but come on, don't blame dde for that.

dde is not to blame for the lagg but to say "no lagg on my end" when the game is clearly lagging is rather bad mannered.

Is it remotely possible he wasn't lagging and he was afraid grubby was using it as an excuse since he (grubby) was in a really bad spot regardless of lag?

Dear Blizzard,

Your lack of Lan, a completely necessary tool required for the success of eSPORTS and tournaments, is now RUINING games. Please implement a fucking lan so you don't ruin the scene you are trying to "promote." Seriously, this is highlighting a MAJOR flaw with your game development. I understgand that you don't want people playing with ripped versions of Starcraft 2 cause you guys really need the money it generates, but how about you distribute copies, to everyone who buys a tournament license, that have lan capabilities. You still get your safety from hackers/rippers, but you give the scene something they have been begging for since the beta: LAN.

Thanks,

Are you serious? During the GSTL we had crashes constantly. It happens all the time.

Every MLG always the same deal. Delays, fuckups and all kinds of shizzle, yet I find myself watching again at every new MLG event. I must be fucking stupid.

GSL is in south korea, with the fastest and most advanced internet in the world

blizzard is trying to promote e-sports in the west, where we have shitty internet, by FORCING us to play it with internet.

I cannot believe MLG unpaused in an hour+ delayed game.

How can you not regame that?

Agreed, the game should've just been replayed(even though it sucks, since it was so far into the game). That being said you can't really regame that. There's a very good argument that that'd happen no matter the lag. As soon as the hellions had done that dmg, there's not much to do tbh.

It's an anti-piracy measure. People could pirate the game, use LAN with programs like Hamachi and essentially never log onto BNET making them unbannable. It sucks for ESPORTS but it's a business and it's all about the money!

It should rather be, why doesn't blizzard create LAN versions of this game which they can hand out to the big tournaments?

Because it would only have to leak once. That would happen pretty fast.

I mean, I disagree with Blizzard completely. I think they could make more money with a LAN version; huge piracy of games/films/music increases exposure and thus sales, and DRM doesn't actually make more money for the company in the long run.

This is fing retarded ... how can they unpause after a 1 hour 30 minutes break , although its obvious in the first few seconds after unpause that the lag is still there? i if were a progamer there i would rage so hard... sad that grubby is too professional to do that =(

GOMTV doesn't have 60 computers connected to the internet while running three streams. Dreamhack could handle 1000's of computers, but Swedish internet is amazing.

LAN would fix any problem with American internet being shit.
