As if spawning cross-position on metalopolis isn't a superbig advantage for Ret in the first game. In game 3 Ret made quite a lot of mistakes and he was outplayed by his opponent. The map actually didn't have anything to do with the loss, because the game never got to the late stages. no, cross positions on Meta does not give zerg any advantages. As Cliiide proven in his series vs leenock if you arent fucking garbage you can hang with Z in macro game. But as Mardow kindly pointed out if all you do is SCV all ins how can you ever learn to macro? Just look at that retard sC making tanks and empty bunkers against muta in the SoW, or Best making tanks vs Broodlords game 1.
Things we learn from this post - GSL RO32 players are fucking garbage, crossposition on metalopolis is meh at best for zerg, and since every single terran is going for some gimmicky marine aggression/hellion/banshee harass to try getting into a decent mid-game vs zerg, every single terran is really fucking bad.
OT: Finally a variation, this should be good ^_^

I've Reinstalled the Gom Player but cannot play the stream, can you help me?

Ret needed to probably play safer, he didn't quite have to control to make up for some of his economic tech decision I guess. However god damn I'm sad. Not true. On most maps, he could have built more spine crawlers and survive. On Jungle Basin, many spine crawlers at front = terran goes backdoor and stomps zerg easily.
Even so, people can't say crap like "Since it didn't get to 3 bases, it had nothing to do with the map". It still did. Every aspect is affected when playing a hard map. It's not like a zerg player will play awesomely on jungle basin except for 1 minute when they are getting a third. It forces special builds, it forces special tactics and strategy. Playing a terran favored map as a zerg will affect your gameplay. If a map is really easy to drop, zerg has to be ready for drops, and even if the terran decides not to drop, it matters to the game being played.

I am very disappointed with Ret being eliminated, but the viking and hellion drop on the lings in game 3 really made it hard for him to win. More spine crawlers might have helped, but it's spilled milk at this point.
The way I see it, Ret showed he was the better Starcraft 2 player in that series. I don't think anyone could look at it any other way. He lost the match, yes, but so does Flash occasionally. Doesn't mean Flash isn't the best player on Earth.
Ret, be proud of what you've accomplished. Focus on the next qualifiers. FIGHTING!

People need to get over the knee jerk bitter and disrespectful tantrums every time a player they like loses.

i don't think it's unreasonable to think that the better player didn't win the series
He didn't all-in either game. He eliminated all the Queens with Banshees and used Hellions to win game 2.
He won game 3 with a multi-pronged attack with constant reinforcements.
Neither game did he all-in. So,, uh???

So .... calling it now - FD to take GSL 3!

Ret was correct to go for the spire imo. He lost all his queens and T could have easiliy gone banshees and just won it - spinecrawlers did practically nothing vs stimmed marauders with medivacs, , the choke really messed with the ability to get lings out there T even mismicroed and lost 3-4 hellions for nothing.
Ret really lost it in the first attack - he was just scrambling to defend vs the 5 things that T could have followed up (banes vs marines/spire vs air/crawlers for hellions).

I hope HongUn wins. Would be nice to see more toss

will there even be a GSL4? i thought not. and everyone who didn't achieve S-Class will need to qualify and for those who didn't get A-Class (which ret hasn't) it will be even more difficult to get into the GSL
|
yay 2 expansions, guess there will be no all-ins this game

I'm upset that Ret lost as well Koreans seem to be really upset as well, a lot of new Ret fans in chat.
However, you can't blame T for the way he played imo. He got completely destroyed in game 1 and he realized that if he left Ret alone, pretty soon he'd have creep spreading in his nat... so he goes for hard pushes to prevent Ret from droning..
Sure the maps played into his favor as well, but I really don't think you can blame the way T reacted to Ret's play. Given a larger map and more macro play I think Ret would've won easy, but c'mon if you were playing for a shot at the prize pool they're offering, you'd do anything you can to win.

Still not a reason to stop hating the shitty maps and in many ways broken metagame. Nobody is going to disagree with that. Pretty much the hardest maps in the pool.

(G) how to succeed in sc2 ? 1. Pick T 2. learn 5, 1-2base all ins, go win GSL Protip: last two winners of GSL were both Zerg. On Topic: Sad to see Ret go out, but I couldn't fault TheBest's play, it was relentless and brutal. Protip: last two seasons, zergs were able to downvote maps. Ret was clearly outplayed in the last two games. TheBest had strong harass, forcing Ret out of his usual (and beastly) macro style. What won TheBest the last game wasn't the map, it was co-ordinated harass with the hellions, sniping the queen and getting that viking to take out the overlords. Saying that the maps were the main reason for the losses is a cop-out, and frankly, insulting to both players. A zerg being "outplayed" on steppes of war. You must be joking. If you have a point, make it. If not, you can continue to make these inane comments like the above. By outplayed, I mean TheBest played better than Ret. I hope that was easy enough to understand. Lack of baneling speed, fast hatch, missed transfuse, etc. Keep using the maps as your crutch, it seems to be working well. How can maps like Steppes/Basin not be easy enough to understand for you? What? Leenock beat Clide, and we just saw Fruitdealer win. It's not like the maps are fucking unplayable as everyone is making it out to be.
All I'm saying is the better player (today) won. If Ret saw the push coming, he may have mounted a sturdier defence and held on for the eco-advantage. If he did there would be praises of 'oh my goodness how amazing' etc. Please.
