its a shame huk didn't make it, but he can do it next time hopefully I don't even think there are any more GSL opens..? Seems a little bit like HuK's on a fall from grace. Actually I think the GSLs that will be next year just means he wont be seeded, so hell either have to face seeded players to qualify as well as having to play any new comers who could be ex bw pros etc You are wrong. You should probably not comment if you have no idea what you are talking about. The outline for next years tournaments has been laid out and the GSL will no longer be an open tournament. Oh really? So what your telling me is that no new players can ever qualify for any future tournaments?? Of course they can, they just need to win qualifier tournemants to qualify. Mayb I never made that clear in my post but thanks for being a douchebag about it.
Not only is that not what I said, but that isn't what you suggested in your original post (what I was responding to). If you want to change the entire framework of your statement then I am happy to reply to that...but my response is clearly applicable and accurate to your original post. Sorry if that is offensive for you.

Yeah even if SelecT has an American citizenship and even if he no longer has a Korean one, he was still born there and lived there most his life and so he's hardly a foreigner.

SlayersBoxer has qualified, I'm happy now. I tourny without either him or nada would be a letdown after last season...

I don't know for sure but I think he skipped his compulsory military service. He's also listed as US on Play XP. Who cares!
Let's just all support him !

I know it's been asked before, and I actually read the last 30+ pages of this thread without finding a sufficient answer.
Did Tasteless miss his games for some reason, or was he erroneously listed by motbob and didn't plan to play in the GSL at all?

Not every country allows double citizenship though and i think this might affect his mandatory military service ( which is huge for a progamer if you can somehow bypass those)

Who is Select's opponent???

On November 16 2010 21:56 Corrupted wrote: Yeah...exactly. If Idra renounced US citizenship and got a Korean one, then yeah...he'd be considered Korean. Seems pretty obvious/logical to me. I'm pretty sure Select is in fact a Korean citizen so this argument is kinda moot. At least he lived in Korea for a loooong portion of his life(practically all of it), like he played Dawn of War for Korea in WCG. I don't think he just dumped his citizenship and moved to the US, though anything is possible.
edit: Extremely late, and apparently extremely wrong.

Korea is one of those countries where if you take up citizenship somewhere else, you cannot get your Korean citizenship back ever.

Does he still have to serve 2 years for South Korea's military?

Yeah...those "evens" are in fact the case...and it pretty much is exactly what a foreigner is. You may choose not to recognize it personally, but it doesn't make it any less an accurate description of him.

What would prevent him from staying longer? Some laws?

I think he lost his or rejected his korean citizenship when he got his USA one. Some people said he did it so he could dodge the Korean army draft, But this is not confirmed.

It's really not...a great deal of countries are like this.

I believe you must start to serve your 2 years of mandatory military service before you turn 30 if you are a Korean male citizen.

Did you read the warning at the top of the OP stating : There is an entire other thread to talk about Protosses not doing well. ?
