its a shame huk didn't make it, but he can do it next time hopefully I don't even think there are any more GSL opens..? Seems a little bit like HuK's on a fall from grace. Actually I think the GSLs that will be next year just means he wont be seeded, so hell either have to face seeded players to qualify as well as having to play any new comers who could be ex bw pros etc You are wrong. You should probably not comment if you have no idea what you are talking about. The outline for next years tournaments has been laid out and the GSL will no longer be an open tournament. There wil be an open A tournament and a S-class tournament. So yeah he can still qualify for the A tournament. Then the top A of fight the bottom S for S-class. something like that. No, it isn't an open A tournament. To qualify for a chance to play in the A tournament you have to be at the top of the ladder (and not in one of the other designations already). So it is clearly very different than the open GSL that was played this year. I'd love to see your sources because as far as we know there haven't been any official statements. There are rumors of a Code B being created to get entry into Code A and another other rumor is a qualifier for Code A. So yea... You're probably referring to some of the other tournaments GOM is planning to run in '11 (ladder invite/worldwide tournament etc). From what I can gather, the earliest someone can make the GSL without being code A is GSL6.

Wait, that's not right. Because I have dual citizenship. Does your Korean government knows about it? America allows dual citizenship. I have friends who have dual citizenship for example Korean + American but the Korean government does not know about it because it's not like the American government inform the Korean counterparts that you have acquired a US citizenship ( i could be very wrong here) Yes, the Korean government knows about it, since I had to register in. But the deal is probably, that you've been to the korean army, right? Maybe SeleCT indeed dodged that. That could be a reason.

My source is the widely referred to source that everyone has that is an interview with the guy running the tournaments. Feel free to search for it, it is posted in virtually every thread (including this one somewhere), that involves GOM or the GSL.

Info from wiki:
1. The Government of the Republic of Korea does not permit dual citizenship after the age of 21. Koreans with dual citizenship under South Korean law who work or study in South Korea are legal obliged by the Republic of Korea to choose one or the other citizenship soon after reaching that age.
2. According to a senior Justice Ministry official, the South Korean Government plans to legalize dual citizenship for South Koreans who have acquired another nationality/citizenship, as well as foreigners who have married a Korean or lived in South Korea for five years. A revised nationality law was passed on 21st April 2010 by the Korean National Assembly. It will go into effect on 1st January 2011 and gives a limited number of groups dual citizenship

What would prevent him from staying longer? Some laws? I think you can't stay in most countries longer than a few months as tourist. Considering Select is not studying in Korea ( or have a job) he probably is there on tourist visa and thus his stay is limited. Wouldnt that apply to all GSL foreigners then? So that means Jinro, Idra and others who was there for first GSL would have to move in some 2-3 months?
just go to Busan, take the ferry over to that small japanese island few miles away, and take the ferry back... np for most foreigners from modern western countries (because they don't have to apply for visa, they just get them when entering the country... Had a friend fromcolumbia trying the same... wasn't that easy and funny for him ^.^)
costs you one day and less then 100 USD, you can do it every 89 days (and maybe spent some days there, is quite a nice place)

Which is really unfortunate for Huk, because he has to wait for one season which he cannot participate in, and another season which he must be in the top 32 non A or S class players on bnet, qualify for A-class for that season, THEN qualify for the actual S class GSL tournament assuming he gets top 16 in the A class tournament.
From now to March, he doesn't have any Korean tournaments upcoming.

Not necessarily. I know a girl who has a korean / british dual citizenship. Maybe it's different for males but i doubt it.

This. My original post still stands. Nowhere did I imply that HuK would never be able to make it into the GSL. My post said that he wouldn't be able to make his way into the top 64 next time like the poster insinuated. He may be able to work his way back into the main GSL tournament after a very long series of qualifications that will likely take a number of months if everything goes right...but like I said, that is very different from the tournaments that took place this year.

-.- seriously, stop arguing about the dual citizenship thing. SeleCT is not an american citizen.
any updates on him though?

I wish GomTV would release a replay pack of the most entertaining qualification matches.
