Would you rather have Select lose to Nony, then be out of the tournament completely instead of coming back to get 2nd? No, there are alternative tournament formats, which are likely better. eg standard sports tourney format Start with group stage, eg groups of 4. Top 1-2 of each group advance to elimination stage, etc..

No way, this way the gamers actually get their moneys worth for showing up. IMO, they showed too much of the loser's bracket. Especially those 3 games with machine. Keep the losers bracket, but only show the winner's bracket matches until the winner's finals, then start casting out of the losers bracket.
Being there, the Long runs in the Losers bracket of Painuser and Select were Really compelling "Storylines" as it were.

I have lost my voice. That Huk v.s Select match was EPIC. Bought an MLG sweatshirt and a custom T-Shirt w/ RedSixWhiskey on the back.
Got many autographs and an epic picture w/ the front row reddit group and Day9.
Peace That epic beard guy..would be Me.

to clarify we were chanting "Show the Game" and then Huk said something to the effect of "What is the crowd chanting? Mothership?" and it was at that point the shenanigans ensued.
the best part though,(and I am not sure if this was on the stream) was the part when HuK came out of the Players areas to the chant of "HUK HUK HUK HUK!" from pretty much everyone in attendance.
One piece of live feedback, they WOEFULLY under estimated the pull of SC2, as they had alloted 10 benches total. for 90% of the day, we had all of the floor full in front AND behind the benches, and most of the aisle way blocked too.. had to be close to 200 spectators. Sounds amazing, didn't know the turnout was that high.

And, the rest of the replays are now up, including Idra/Select.. cant wait to watch em.

No Tyler vs Select reps from the losers bracket? Error on MLG's part ?

Like getting mutas out in literally the last second against incoming dropships and stuff like that. But he was definitely better overall, evidently.
"Hairy" is the defacto way to play for Zerg when they are not on the offensive. As Day[9] would say, if you fend off an attack and are left with hardly any attacking units, you are doing well since that means you did not overcommit your larvae to not making drones.
It's also common since Zerg have long build times on their tech structures, but the stored larvae allows them to simultaneously build units once it is done.

Go to the SCII page on mlgpro.com and click on "brackets and replays", then click on "show info". You'll be able to download the replays. Only day 1 is up right now, they said day 2 will be up by tomorrow.

Just my 2 cents. haha i remember that. yeah incontrol pretty much humble pie in face. yeah.. select... not flashy and not a contender... does gimmicky things and when it clicks, it clicks. The gimmicky things clicked 9 best-of-3's in a row(against opponents like qxc, kiwikaki, and huk) and a game to match 7 with nony and would've taken 1st if not for idra.
Lol yeah, they even laughed when his name was brought up =). I remember inControl saying he wasn't impressed, too gimmicky(relying on it for the win), and his past tournament wins was meh.
Grats to Idra and SeleCT! Gonna be interesting to see HuK and SeleCT(maybe Fenix?) try for GSL 3.

it was a fantastic good time. This thread didnt exist when I left for the venue and now it is 270 pages of yesterday plus the 350+ today v_v Good thing I was there and didn't need the live report.
I took a good 300 photos and narrowed it down to 50 good ones. Might retouch a few, but be on the lookout for a photoblog coming from me tomorrow. Admittedly, a lot of them are of EG. I briefly spoke with them and told them I wasn't a stalker, but rather looking for good shots for Teamliquid. Got a lot of shots of a lot of people though, Teamliquid, fnatic, EG, a few of some root members (I think) and a couple venue/crowd shots.
And CatZ, sorry again for 6pooling you first round I feel bad enough already, even though you held it off. Would have felt even worse if it worked!
Actually, I might start going through some of those photos now.
