I really can't see a silver player having 100apm without just spamming those 4 and 5's. At least from a "real" silver player You said that for a couple of weeks so I'm guessing you got promoted, congrats.

Well, there's a reason for it :p
I tried to get into BW and spent a lot of time focusing on APM (like an idiot), burned out and stopped playing RTS for a while - but when I got back into SC2 it vaguely paid off in APM terms.
I was in the odd situation of having better mechanics than your average silver player but a much worse grasp of strategy.

For those who have not seen this tournament: GO HAVE A LOOK! Some amazing and interesting plays!
Fantastic tournament.
I'll definitely be buying Razer from now on.
XD

I already ordered the Imperator
Anyway, my jaw is still somewhere on the floor after game 3 between IdrA and TLO. Simply amazing. Wish i could play like that!

Well you are in a better place than most of the silver players then :D I would choose good mechanics over strategy any day

If you had far better mechanics you should have easily been able to move up to gold/plat

I didn't say far better, I said better.
And once I got a handle on basic strategy I did. Nevertheless, I was a silver player with 90-100apm for a good 2 weeks :d

I also hope that this will silence all the imba talk arround here. I think the game is really nicely balanced and when some custom maps will hit the scene it will only get better.
good day, svizcy oh it wont silence the imba talk. people will just say TLO doesnt know how to play terran mech properly and that if he did he would have 2-0'd IdrA. He doesn't. He was on the verge of transitioning into battlecruisers (again) while at the same time thinking it a good idea to make a game ending push on cross positions. Mind you he almost succeeded anyway. Had he just spent those extra minerals and gas on tanks he would have wiped out idra's army easily. Instead he left 2 unfinished starports (SCVs building them were killed by idra's mutas) untouched for 3-4 minutes while pushing, and at the same time he started a CC for a third base. The height of terran greediness. They think they can do it all simultaneously, and still get away with it. What's more remarkable, is that he almost killed Idra despite being so utterly greedy and investing so little in the cross position push. A mid game push should involve some level of commitment. Rather ridiculous to think a terran feels comfortable enough to do a cross position push while putting down a 3rd CC, while putting down 2 starports and planning to switch to BCs. That's cocky, and greedy. And what's more scary: had it not been cross positions, it even would have worked...
Let me just preface this by saying i completely respect your opinion and am not quoting you to argue it in any way.
I just made that post to express my opinion that people arent going to stop calling terran imbalanced just b/c idra beat tlo in zvt. I wasnt trying to say that tlo does or doesnt know how to play mech properly or that the matchup is imba or not.
Every new tournament I watch I see new and creative stuff so I dont feel Im in any position to call anything imbalanced, theres just too much left to learn about sc2 and so much more that's probably going to change.

+ Show Spoiler +Idra vs TLo series was fucking amazing. Suck it "creativity"(which for most non-tlo people just means chronic cheesers with no macro) tards, solid mechanical gameplay backed by hours of practice wins this time.

For those who have problems loading up day9tv.blip.tv, go there and click on the Episode Archives. You can access the vods from there and it loads fine. Also make sure you don't skip ahead (I know, listening to Day9's rambling in the beginning can be hard, but bear with it! =P)

Big whoop Drowsy. Bashing creativity? Haha. Hilarious. "Practice for hours and do the same shit over and over prevails! YEAH!" I never really talked to anyone who disliked creativity and variety in games. Though, maybe I didn't talk to them because I plain out didn't find those people interesting to communicate with in the first place.
I don't get it honestly. I find TLO a ton of fun to watch. Idra, not as much.

He could've easily killed those BC's, NP -> Attack them with his hydras = dead BC's, but he didnt.
Dont blame the NP nerf for that

Against massive units, NP is still more cost-beneficial use of energy than the other infestor spells. + Show Spoiler +Those were just too many BCs. They got hit pretty hard, but barely got out alive. It was close, like it was close in the third game, when IdrA barely survived and won. These two games show the potential of SC2 to be very entertaining, pulling the "wow" effect.

We can if he didn't know about it before the game.

yeah, sure, but with the old way he would've been able to np them, kill the other BCs, then bring them back and kill with hydra.
he also could have kept them there to defend against TLO's backup BCs that rolled in like 5 secs later.
also, in the very next game TLO says to idra that 12 sec NP sucks ass. you gonna say u know better than TLO now as well? lolz

did i say i know better?
NP is way worse than it used to be but he still could have killed those BC's fairly easily, he might not have known, forgot about it or just lost focus. He won the series anyway so doesnt really matter that much

Last game between TLO and Idra: + Show Spoiler +I screamed for joy when I saw Idra go for the drop.

I was a silver player with a 100 apm (and no spamming either). I did get to gold in the end and eventually platinum, but I certainly didn't deserve higher than gold.

Me too. It was a complete stroke of genius. And I think it shows people quite clearly that IdrA is a player who can be creative when he needs to be. Bah, I don't even like this whole creativity discussion, I just want Zerg and Protoss to smash Terran however they do it I'm so hopelessly biased :S
Seriously though, that drop was perfectly timed as well, Idra had the overlord upgrade finished and ready for a counterattack, so was probably going to be doing some sort of drops later on anyway.

Which is why it was nerfed because that would be overpowered, the ability isn't meant to be able to kill off half the enemy army and then kill the other half at your leisure. Just because they are pros doesn't mean they are perfect. IdrA could have done a lot more damage with those NP than he did and the ability is still very viable at 12 seconds. I know I was screaming at the screen to kill the NP BCs too.
