I have double checked and gather resource is definitely set to the apostrophe/single quotation key, which is right next to the enter key on my keyboard (I use a 6gv2). I confirmed it in the hotkey menu and by pressing the key in game (with a drone selected). Since this key is right in the middle of all the keys used by the core surely it could be put to something more useful? This is a glitch in the layout which somehow happened to you. Nothing to do with Jak if you're using ZRM. I don't know about ZRMM, though

I agree with this, whats on 7 now used to be on 8, but 8 is a free camera now,
also 7 and N are the worst keys in the layout in my opinion, building infestors is really uncomfortable, even more than building a baneling nest

I agree with 7, though. It would be better to swap 7 and B. Only problem there is Select Builder and Hold Fire for Terran, but THIS IS ZERG RIGHTY! *Kicks Persian*

First off, big thanks for doing this!!! (I thought about doing it myself, but wasn't clear on some things.)
I was wondering why you put Next Subgroup on "#" instead of "-". In the english version it is on "/". Just because we have that extra key? Just wondering....
Is there maybe something else you changed I am not aware of?
Again: I really appreciate it! :D

I have redownloaded the file but it hasn't fixed the problem. Can you double check that the ' key does whatever it is intended to on your computer, rather than gather resources?

I played about 10 games with it I think I would've noticed if the build structure was on the grave key.
EDIT: Oh, you're in Ireland. Are keyboards in Ireland any different from what we have in the US?
|
For me, build structure (ZRM 02) is on O so it's not a problem. I'm not even sure what ' is supposed to do so I can't even fix it.
I am in Ireland but the keyboard is much the same as US. Grave key is next to 1 and apostrophe is next to enter.
Edit: the data document says the apostrophe key should be a control group (broodlords apparently), so if you have it as build basic then perhaps that is a mistake.

Are there any more tutorials or the-like available for the set-up? Especially for Terran. I'm having a hard time visualising the re-mapped keys and need a bit more to convince me to try this set-up.

Well, there were visuals of the keyboard (see 24th page of the thread), but that was for the first beta version. Once the release comes out is when new visuals will make a return. Either that or slightly earlier.

I love the visuals. I almost want to print one off and hang it next to my screen :p. Will they be added into the OP?

Almost certainly. Jakatak said on stream that they will wait until the full release, though, so that they don't have to redo 4 layouts per race every time a minor thing is changed (which will probably still happen a lot; it's beta after all).

I tried it in a game without opponents and I have a hard time. Is the alt key supposed to work like this? It is centering on selection and i cannot save camera position.
I am sure I do many things wrong, so i will grind it out.
It helped me alot when i printed the keys on a piece of paper and could check at anytime which keys are which.
Keep up the good work.

For us Swedes who has different places for keys, like the [ is alt gr+ 8 to make.Do we need to rebind or change to US keyboard to use this?

Both work. Either you work on it, either you pay. You choose

I use the RRM layout. These are the changes I made: Equals->BracketOpen BracketOpen->BracketClose BracketClose->SemiColon Slash->Minus SemiColon->Grave Minus->Equals
Alt->Alt+Control (because AltGr = Alt+Control)
There are some conflicting Grave character binds, but I have no idea where the grave character is on US keyboards. They weren't important binds though, so I just removed them. (gather, statusowner, morph to gateway) By the way, you can't use the blizzard hotkey editor for these, it doesn't seem to support our button to the right of å. It unbinds every key using it if you try to bind it more than once. It corresponds to the BracketClose key on US keyboards.

Thank you, ill look into this. Also the Grave (if its ~ you mean) its on our paragraph to the left of 1.

~ is the tilde, on US keyboards (I'm Dutch, so US-International) it is produced by shift+` (grave).
I am lurking this thread a lot by the way, I currently use DarkGrid but I'm interested in switching. It would mean I need to buy a new keyboard though (laptop user). Seems like a lot of thought went into this, great to see something like this happening.

Here are some nordic layouts that were converted with the tool described in this post: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/14548792/TheCore RRM 02_nordic.SC2Hotkeys https://dl.dropbox.com/u/14548792/TheCore RRMM 02_nordic.SC2Hotkeys
I may post more if they are requested. Please tell me if there's something wrong with these.
I programmed a quick tool to convert The Core layouts for nordic keyboards.Probably has a bug or two. Requires .NET framework 3.0 or higher. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/14548792/CoreNordicRemapper_v4.exe If you use this, your keyboard should look something like this: http://gamma.nic.fi/~point/images/rufin-fi.gif So Swedish and Finnish keyboards should be fine, don't know if the Norwegian one will work. It has the same basic layout, just different characters.
Simply open the file you want to convert and then select where to save it. It does exactly these operations: Equals->BracketOpen BracketOpen->BracketClose BracketClose->SemiColon Slash->Minus SemiColon->Grave Minus->Equals Grave->unbound Alt->Alt+Control (== AltGr)
I have no idea what the changes would be if you use left-handed layouts. I've put zero thought on them since I'm an ignorant righty.
Changelog: v4: - Fixed a bug where some of the former Grave key binds weren't actually removed. v3: - Added automatic file naming - Fixed a bug where extra Control keys were added to key binds v2: - Fixed a bug which lead to inconsistent control group binds
